Hi,
I am considering going to a conference that is at the boardwalk inn. The rate is $295 per night and I was looking for a cheaper option. I was thinking of staying at a value resort but the conference starts at 7:30 am each morning and I can't figure out how I would get to the Boardwalk every morning unless I rent a car.. is there any disney transport that would get me to the boardwalk that early? If I didn't stay at a value resort are there any resorts that would be cheaper that are walking distance from the boardwalk? Or should I just rent a car? It may be easier just to stay at the boardwalk since it's a discounted rate..

Thoughts appreciated :)

Probably not substantially cheaper.

Rental car or taxi. EITHER one, combined with the Pop room rate, will cost you less per day/night than the same night at Boardwalk. Heck, depending exactly when the conference is, you could probably stay three nights at Pop for less than one night at BW. And that would include the taxi every morning (at the end of the day, you'd walk or take the boat to DHS, then the Pop bus from there).

Another option would be to take a cab in the morning.

I've faced the same dilemma when going to conferences at WDW. I have ended up staying in the conference hotel each time, partly due to the (usually) good rates, and due to convenience. Also, I can write the expense off from my income tax since it's work-related (to get required continuing education hours). That may be something to consider...either that or if your employer covers some of your expenses if it is work-related.

Are there any discounts you could get by booking (directly) at Boardwalk instead of through the conference?

One time I attended a conference at Disney (Coronado Springs Resort) and had an annual pass and I was able to get the AP rate at CSR, which was somewhat less than the conference rate.

Well, the Boardwalk area has the Swan and Dolphin and Y&BClub hotels as well, have you checked into their prices? I would definitely see if there are any discounts for any of the hotels other than the conference price. I've done YC for a seminar and it was drastically reduced. 295 doesn't sound drastically reduced!

If you book a room at POP, it will cost less than $10 to get to BW. That's what I would do if trying to cut costs.
Or you might be able to get a room at the S/D, which is right next to the BW, but their rates are going to be close to $200 a night.

If NP stands for Nurse Practitioner...check out the discount for nurses at the Swan and Dolphin. It may be a bit cheaper per night and just a short walk to boardwalk.

You can get to the Boardwalk by bus by 7:30, but it will be a rush.

Buses to the Studios start between 6:45 and 7am. You need to be at your bus stop by 6:30 and 6:45 and get on the first bus, then once you arrive at the Studios it is about a 10 min walk to Boardwalk. If you stay at Pop instead of All-Stars, the bus ride is shorter.
