I posted this on my Fb and I was told to go here and see if you guys had any advice on how to proceed/contact..

Our terrible stay at Pop Century started after checking in I walked into the restroom of our resort to underwear behind the toilet and a squashed roach. There were two other roaches that went running when I turned the light on. The bathtub was also filled with water with a box inside. I immediately walk to the front to speak to a manager. He compensates half a night and we agree that housekeeping will deep clean in the room tomorrow since it was so late and my kids were ready for bed. We all get in bed and my husband pulls the second cover off the beds and there's a condom. THE SAME BED MY KIDS WERE IN. Can you say PISSED. I demanded a new room at a different resort. Its pouring down raining at 10:30 at night we FINALLY got in the taxi with our 9 bags and three kids They send us to Port Orleans in a Mears Taxi. I'm pissed because my kids don't have car seats but we got here. Port Orleans then assigns us a room at the VERYYYY back of there expansive property that we had to walk in the dark with sleepy kids. And to put the icing on the cake at 11:30 at night the bell service for our luggage just tried to tell me it was going to be an hour for our luggage.

Disney also said they weren't roaches but something like roaches that goes after water (probably the water left in the tub) but that it shouldn't have been dead in the floor. Something palm ‍♀️ but I say ROACH.

It's now 12 and I am STILL waiting for the luggage.
 
I would take pics of what was going on in Pop Century and when you get home send an email to guest services based on the grossness of the condom, underwear and water in the tub alone, but it sounds like management quickly came to a resolution and moved you to a different resort. Its possible that resort only had rooms in the way back so that's unfortunate, but usually the pathways are lit so not sure what you mean walking in the dark (maybe just nighttime?) But why did bell services take your luggage?
 
That's very gross and not a fun start.

But thankfully you took action and the manager took action. Then you found more, took action again, the manager took action again, and you're in a new room at a new resort. Things were taken care of. I see no need for a follow up complaint.

There's literally no other way to get between those resorts apart from a vehicle. So there's no need to be angry about no car seats since you asked for another resort. Alas transporter beams don't exist.

Getting a previously unbooked room means you take what's left. And all of PO feels far away. Especially at night. When we arrived at Riverside after a flight arrival after midnight it felt long and dark, too. But we waited for their late night Bell guy to be available and to lead us to our room. That was the choice we made, to wait for him. Since your arrival there wasn't as late as ours they were probably busier than when we arrived. Other people waiting for their bags aren't going to appreciate being pushed behind you when they were at their resort first.

I empathize with the icky room (had bad rooms twice). I empathize with the room feeling far away and the path feeling dark. But to me it was all taken care of as well as anything can be taken care of, and I cannot fathom the need to complain again, when everything has been taken care of.

Enjoy PO! You get use of all pools at riverside and French quarter because they are sister resorts. Pretty cool!
 

First, I'm so sorry for what you're dealing with. It's not acceptable.

Second, prepare mentally for the fact that some people on here will find a way to make this your fault or tell you that you handled it wrong. Just ignore that.

They need to refund you for night 1, IMO. 100%. If you're unhappy with the room they've given you at POR, tell them. Tell them exactly what it will take to let you relax and enjoy your vacation at this point. DO NOT push the front desk button on the phone and try to talk to one of those people. That's a call center off site. Do go to the front desk and ask for a manager.

I hope they do their best to make it right.
 
I'm so sorry for your troubles! That's just terrible!!! I hope the rest of your stay goes better. PO is beautiful. Enjoy it! I think you should probably head to the front desk though and get a full refund for night 1 due to the additional troubles you encountered.

For anyone else who finds themselves in this situation...it may be easier (logistically) to get a different room in the same resort, if available. This is surely an exceptional situation and not all rooms at Pop are like this. I wouldn't put my kid in a car without a car seat or have bell services be transporting my luggage so late at night.
 
The OP lost a night of vacation due to multiple issues. Management did try to make it right but sometimes when you're already stressed out, minor issues tend to become magnified and compound the problem.

I'd have been most ticked about the condom in my bed.

I'm at Universal's RPR this week and ran into issues. I didn't want ANY compensation- I wanted them to fix the problem. The manager kept offering me free appetizers, lol. I politely declined.
 
That is terrible and I don't think you were wrong for asking for a switch.

I will say though that if I had come in to a room that dirty I would not have put kids in the bed with out checking it first. They already proved they couldn't properly clean so I would assume the whole room was dirty and requested a new room at Pop and if not available a room somewhere on property.

Outside of that it looks like management did try to handle the situation and of course the room was pretty far away since the close ones are premium and upgrading you (for free I imagine) usually doesn't go to the premium rooms. So yes bring up the clearly not cleaned room that was turned over to a guest but the location of the change seems like a you take what they give you thing.
 
wow I'm not sorry I'm GLAD you were wise enough to check under those covers, that is not a situation any guest OR management wants to be, obviously you paid for this vacation is not a gift from Disney, and they did good at upgrading you for all the inconveniences, sadly is not all magically done, and the little details are normal for the volumes of guests disney managed, but you are so aggravated right now, I really hope your vacation is smooth sailing after this, Disney took you out of the hotel and upgraded you to the room they have available, they could just change you to a clean room and refund you for the night, they went beyond that and if I were in your position I will ASAP put the incident behind me and started enjoying my vacation time.
 
Honestly at this point, you could email Guest Services to get the first night fully comped. If you really hate the location of your room at POR, go to the front desk and ask to be switched.. but IMO, I would just relax and enjoy POR! Huge upgrade and I am jealous!!
 
Yikes and double yuck. I would have been livid. It makes my mishaps at POR seem minor to what you're dealing with. Definitely ask for the first night to be comped. This 50% business is nonsense.

I hope you're able to relax and enjoy the vacation from here on out.

Pop Century has 2,800 rooms. People don't rush to post if they are happy.

Remember Survivorship Bias - "the logical error of concentrating on the people or things that made it past some selection process and overlooking those that did not, typically because of their lack of visibility. This can lead to false conclusions in several different ways. It is a form of selection bias."

Still stinks if you are the one who got the bad apple of course.

I've stayed on site many many times at all levels of resorts. Yes some bad rooms happen, heck I even had one. With that said even in the worst situation it is how management response that is the true measure for me. In this case it seems management did the best they could at the time and known issues. They didn't know about the condom when they gave 50% off. They only knew about a dirty bathroom. Once they got the next complaint they rose to the occasion of moving them, getting transportation, and moving luggage over. It appears when the OP got there it was a clean room they could put their kids to bed in. Anything outside of that is due to the change and yes at that late lack of bell service staffing. Of course no one wants to be in that situation but at least Disney has the ability to move you some where else. If this happens at the Hilton in Orlando or an Air BnB your stuck at that hotel.

A room in that condition is not acceptable no matter what resort it is. I can understand completely why you are upset.

I am not what else you want from Disney in terms of compensation? You demanded to be moved to a new resort, which they did, moving you to Port Orleans which is an upgrade from a value to a moderate resort. The only thing I can think of is possible refunding the first night. Disney has done everything they can to correct the situation. To be honest at that time of night I would have requested a room change and not bothered moving resorts.

As to your other grievances, I am not sure how you expected Disney to transfer you to another resort without a taxi? Port Orleans Riverside is a large resort, the rooms are very spread out. Lastly your in Florida, there will always be bugs/insects/snakes etc. It does not matter how clean a resort is, there will always be bugs, they can only do so much to control them.

I highly recommend though that you let the anger go otherwise your not going to enjoy your vacation.
