Condom in bed..

First of all. If they can trace card access, no employee is going to "borrow" a room to have sex in. I mean, as long as they are using their card. If they aren't using their card, tracing would be pretty useless.

Second of all, I could see the condom getting left that way, but not the standing water or underwear. No one is going to have a quickie on company property and then walk out without their underwear. If fact, if anything, they're going to leave that room cleaner than they found it. If it was a grievance, they could have (and would have) done something more than that. That's just standard guest grossness.

I don't buy the employee quickie idea at all.

What it sounds like to me is a room that was checked out of that day. Maybe a late check out. Housekeeper never got around to making it up. Maybe front desk thought it was made up because there was a software error, or maybe front desk assigned "503" on accident when they meant to assign "305".

Quickie and a quick getaway? lol

Honestly, I don't get leaving underwear behind. I've been in compromising positions but I've never been without my underroos. Geesh.

I'm really not a complainer and can with the flow. Most things don't bother me. But with this I would've went bat shat crazy. A condom in the bed I put my kids in?? Yes I would've demanded to change hotels, not just rooms. And I would probably still be irate that entire night.

I do hold Disney to a higher standard. It's not just a hotel room. It's a vacation destination. They market it as part of the experience. With that experience I'm paying for an overpriced room, 2k in park tickets and an obscene amount of money in food.

I would expect them to go above and beyond for someone that found a dirty condom in their bed. She should've been moved to a deluxe and been driven privately, by a CM or manager, with her luggage to the new resort.

So just to be clear.. I am angry about our whole first night. I was more angry when I first wrote this. A little time has passed and things like not getting my luggage isn't that big of a deal anymore BUT the condom in the bed situation still pisses me off. I just think a higher up personnel needs to be aware that a condom in the bed at a resort even if it is 'value' is not okay.

I agree! They should have been upgraded to a deluxe!

The pictures if anyone wanted to see.

Oh hell no!!!! That's an absolute disgrace.
To see the pictures. You should post the on trip advisor as well as email them to wdwguestcommunications email. It was awful to read about your encounter but the pictures showed the truly unsanitary , digusting state of the room.

I hope you guys are having a better time, please update on his the trip is going. Sorry you had to go through this.

In my opinion the condom is such a health violation that the OP should notify the health dept.

Yeah, there's the rub for me - is that a thing at Disney resorts? I'm not going to freak out over a single hair that escaped attention, but not changing linen? You think of how many people speed versus how many people get caught speeding... Blech. And hot pink - how could you even miss that?

For starters...grooossssssssssssss! I am so sorry that your trip started out so horribly and that the room was...well...unacceptable on every level. It was smart of you to have kept your cool enough to have snapped the pictures. I'm not sure I would've been in my right mind after finding a condom in the bed.

All that said, I feel as though Disney handled it properly on their end. They moved you to a new room at an upgraded resort, which with your family of 5 and 10 pieces of luggage was probably necessary space-wise. Not sure how you were going to fit all that in a room at POP and keep sane LOL. Disney, I assume, footed the bill for the cab? I do think they should totally refund you that first night, not just "half". I don't think I saw you mention it anywhere, but I assume the management of the resort was horrified and apologetic? If not, I would probably make note of any blase' attitude or inattentiveness in your email to guest relations.

As far as making sure it never happens again, or expecting Pop to be held responsible? For what and how? Thankfully, Nobody was injured. The only thing Pop needs to do is hunt down the person responsible for cleaning the room and either retrain or dismiss them. Sadly, stuff like this (and way worse) has happened at every hotel on the planet. And sadly stuff like this will probably happen again at hotels around the world.

We as consumers can only refuse to accept it when it happens.

Disney will do a lot for a dissatisfied customer. Just don't wait until you get home. Deal with it NOW. Perhaps the compensation may include something you can use on THIS vacation.

This send the email while you are there and send them the photos if you have any. We have had to do that in the past and believe me, the response was fast.

Just another pragmatic question: do you have to pay the higher rate at POR for your subsequent nights or is your whole stay at the Pop price?

We were staying at the Wilderness Lodge:

One the second to last morning we noticed a stain on the sheet, probably one of the kids wet through their pull up a little bit. We left a note asking for the sheets to be changed and $10 instead of the $2 we usually leave.

The second to last night I pull down the comforter in the middle of the night. There were 1" black hairs all over the entire inside of the sheets. Not one or two, hundreds, and they weren't mine. Clearly from someone with a lot of body hair.

This was back when Disney put dates of completetion for their hotel construction projects in their website. Construction on the pool was supposed to be complete when we got there. We couldn't use the pool and we had a view and the noise of the construction equipment out our window (young kids, sleep late, go to bed early, midday naps). After 1 day, I asked for a room change to a standard view and a refund of the the lagoon view or whatever its called that I paid for. They couldn't move us within the same hotel but they offered us an upgrade to GF or an account credit which is what we took because we didn't feel like moving to a different resort.

Im a pretty laid back person and was embarrassed to complain again later in the trip and didn't know if housekeeping was annoyed with us for asking for sheet change mid trip and didn't want someone who was pissed off at us in our room. So we left out the do not disturb sign and I slept on top of the comforter the last night.

I emailed Disney after I left to make them aware of the housekeeping issue and some random person from a call center called me asked me what happened, I explained exactly the same as what I wrote in the Email and all they said was something like Sorry, hope your next trip is more magical. I was so annoyed I even wasted my time writing an email.

My takeaway from the condom in the bed:

- It's disgusting but I'm not surprised, I'm sure at any resort there are going to be housekeepers who take shortcuts like not changing the sheets because it looks clean enough at first glance.

- I feel your pain for not wanting to move with kids. We have arrived at Disney late (after 9pm) and this is hell when you have young kids. It disturbs their sleep, they don't want to go back to sleep, they cry, you cry, the next days morning plans are shot because you have to let them sleep in, then they are cranky the next day. We have incredibly well behaved children but they do not like to have their sleep routine disturbed.

- Don't expect Disney to do anything beyond what you've already received.

I wouldn't be surprised if this is a hotel wide problem.

Soneone stated earlier that it looked like a quickie situation. I'm thinking that since the beds were made did someone sneak in and have that quickie. Or did an employee borrow the room?
I wouldn't be surprised at all at a scenario like this including an employee being involved. People will do anything.

No need to be snippy. I'm honestly shocked that someone could think to fit 5 people and 10 pieces of luggage into a value room and not lose their sanity. The thought of even trying it gives me the willies.
People will do what they can afford and what they are comfortable doing. Honestly, it has no bearing on this thread.

So? Now can only post strictly on the main subject, and not on anything else mentioned? If something is posted, we are free to make observations on it. I wasn't even being rude, so I'm not sure why my comment is so upsetting to you.

I completely agree about finances. We all do what we can.

I may be reaching on the subject but it's possible that even without the issues that went on at POP that a complaint regarding space could have come up. May never have come up for sure but I could see that and even if I could see it space may or may not have been a big enough issue sure.

I believe POP is around 260 sq ft and POR is around 314 sq feet (according to online resources so that could be off). Now the differences may not be a huge huge amount between the two though there is some difference in layout and it's possible it may still be a tad tight with 5 people and 10 suitcases at POR.

You're right that it doesn't have much bearing on the thread but I think it's just thinking about overall comfortability. I see it all the time on the boards when people talk about two full sized beds and number of people and advice about rooms. People create threads all the time about "Do you think we will be ok with..... in this room/resort?"

In this case it may be unsolicited comment regarding space but it doesn't make it any less of a valuable comment when thinking about the big picture.

This is of course my own personal thoughts and aren't a reflection of the OP or anyone else but it's just going to be my husband and I in September. At this time we're planning on checking 1 large suitcase (think about the largest suitcase that typically comes in a set) and then having 1 personal item each and 1 carry on item each. 1 of the carry ons will be the smallest rolling suitcase that you typically see in a set. The other carryon will be a backpack (though it's a school one not those larger more hiking style ones). The 2 personal items will be bags that are decent in size but can fit underneath the seat on the airplanes. We'll be staying in that resort room (All-Star Sports so still around 260 sq feet like POP) for 9 nights and 10 days. The truth is with just 2 adults but with the bags we'll have I may feel like it's tight quarters especially if we just get the full sized beds instead of a king bed (we aren't going to request a king bed though); it is something I have thought about though.

I don't find it shocking at all. We're a family of four who stay at Pop for two weeks at a time with lots of bags/luggage. We just get organized upon arrival and still have space to spare. For some people, it's not a big deal.

No way I would pay a higher rate. They asked for a change to a clean room and they didn't have one. No way they should have had to sleep in that dirty room or move twice.

I agree they shouldn't have to pay a higher rate for sure given everything.

But the OP didn't specify that the resort didn't have a clean room available or that they actually asked for a clean room. As mentioned before the OP found the time of night and the need for the kids to be in bed of a higher priority at that time than being in a room with underwear on the floor and the room being unclean (all before the condom was found).

The OP said: "we agree that housekeeping will deep clean in the room tomorrow since it was so late and my kids were ready for bed." Once the condom was found the OP said: "I demanded a new room at a different resort."

And not that I truly blame the OP under the circumstances but the OP did state after the condom was found: "You couldn't PAY me to ever step foot on Pop property again." so it's clear that for them another resort was the way to go which depending on what was available it may have been more expensive (likely so given the resort category of Value they were in to begin with and the time of night) but still in this case I don't think the OP should have had to have paid more.

They asked to be moved to another resort - there could have been other clean rooms at Pop but OP said she was too traumatized to stay there. And after finding the panties, bug and water filled tub they agreed to stay the night with a promise that housekeeping would deep clean in the morning. It was the condom found after that was the straw that broke the camels back.
