We currently have Port Orleans reservations..but the more I think about it I am not sure we will be happy with a standard bedroom.

If we get back at 6pm from the parks and want to put our DS to bed and have time to relax...not sure that would happen on Disney Property.

I love the thought of staying on property again with boat to DTD...but I want to be HAPPY and stress free LOL!

Any recommendations?

And renting a DVC 1 bedroom is more than double what we are paying now...so that is not an option!!

You could rent from a DVC owner. A 1 bedroom is considerable points, but oh so worth it.

Understand! Here's another option, it's a hotel that is recomended on this site
http://www.wdwinfo.com/wdwinfo/Resorts/bvsuites/index.htm

They have good rates for 1-bedroom units and are very close to WDW. Breakfast is included and you would have the room to put your little one down for the night and then stay up for some adult time.

If he is sleeping in a pack n play you can put it in the bathroom area and curtain it off. I successfully had a couple trips like this before my daughter was 2. Once she fell asleep we could move through the room at out leisure. The pack and play fit nicely in the area with the double sinks. We used it for nap time too.

That said, now that he is 2.5 and no longer sleeps in a pack n play a standard room has been somewhat miserable this week. I am looking forward to going home.

What if you rented a studio at a resort that has balconies? Then, you and DH could relax on the balcony with a drink or whatever? We are renting a studio at SSR in March and the price was within $50 of all the mods WITH my AP discount!!

We enjoyed 3 stays at POFQ when DS was in a pnp - we did what was mentioned above - put the pnp on the curtained off bathroom closet area. I would stay in a dark room when DS fell asleep while DH went to the foodcourt to refill our mugs. He would be asleep in a few minutes and then we could turn on the lights, watch tv, etc without any trouble.

Very rarely were we there at 6pm but there is a playground and nice grounds to walk around and stuff like that.....most days (with a young child) we would do an afternoon rest, shower, and go out again until 9 or so...we would bring pjs for the baby and change him/her while we were out at 8 and they would fall asleep in the stroller or on the bus etc...

You will have a great trip! It's sooooo easy to bring a baby to the parks! Easier than a 2 year old for sure!! :)

I think I decided staying in a standard hotel room is just not going to work for what I want out of a vacation. My DS is terrible at getting to sleep some nights...plus I don't want to deal with the hassle of hanging a sheet, etc.

Any condo/townhome management company/owner recommendations?

I've rented from Vacation Central Florida at Windsor Hills with good results. Blue Heron is decent and we've rented there multiple times through Expedia or directly through Blue Heron. Also enjoyed Silver Lake resort. We usually book them through the military time share, but I know there's other ways to book there too. Silver Lake is right near Animal Kingdom (closer than Windsor Hills) and Blue Heron is off 535 and you would come in the Downtown Disney entrance. All are nice. Silver Lake is most convenient and the other two are about the same distance I think. Windsor Hills a little nicer but Blue Heron you can book for less than a week at a time which is nice sometimes too.

I would definitely find a condo or rental home if you can't swing a DVC rental. We stayed at AS Sports when our kids were 4 & 1.5. What a nightmare at bedtime. Ds would stand up in the pack n play and just cry with his arms up. The sad thing too is that he was such a good sleeper at home and just needed his crib, binky & a dark room and he be happy. He slept like crap every night and even now looking at pictures, his eyes look red and so tired all the time. Of course, he wouldn't nap in the stroller either so the whole trip was hard on him.
We rented condos or pool homes for years after that and it worked out well. We didn't start staying onsite again until our younger one was around 10.

At POFQ there is already a curtain divider between the bed area and the bathroom/closet area (I believe this is at all mods actually)....we have stayed on and off site...I can't imagine spending all of that money for tickets to not be at parks all day or to have to pay for parking....to each their own, but realize it will be much easier to zip back to your room if you are on property....we have since stopped staying at mods and have bought DVC because we need have 2 kids now and can't achieve the same level of moderate privacy (they don't fit in PNPs anymore!) so I do understand the benefits of a seemingly private bedroom of my own....but we really had great trips in at POFQ if you don't decide to move...

My almost 17 month old is a terrible sleeper. Our future trips will be off property at a house or condo in Windsor hills. As much as I have enjoyed staying on property it's too much money for such a small space. Maybe if he was a better sleeper it would be different. Good luck!

we stayed there once and found the boat was not really all its cracked up to be. it was slow and took a lot longer to get there than we thought, plus the same wait time as a bus.

if you are going to be done for the day at 6pm you should just save the $$ and stay offsite.
