we are going to disney 12-20-2003 thro 1-2-2004.we are going with hubbys family.my hubbys brother wife has a condo for us 12-21 rhou 12-28.we have 5 days left to find a place to stay.my brother in law would like to find a place for about $50 a night.but i told him all you going to get is a dump or a place that you would not even want to take your shoes off at or even want to even sleep in.i would like to stay on site but he real would like us to stay toghter.heres the thing.if we were to stay on site it would run us $114 a night at the allstars or i found a web site that i can get a condo for $109 a night for a 3 bedroom.but would have to go throu a 90 min sales pitch.the place goes for $390 a night with out going throu the sales pitch.so you are saving $281 a night. and would go in half on the room so it would run us $65 a night.would it be better to stay on site at a hotel or a condo??i just dont know what to do.what would be the benfits of staying on site??

I found several places at www.HotelKingdom.com for around that price that don't require you to attend a presentation (dates of 12/28-1/2):

Island Club West: 3 BR $88.90 (max 8 ppl), 4 BR $155.90 (max 10 ppl)

Cypress Pointe Grand Villas: 3 BR $128.04 (140.04 night of 12/31), sold out night of 1/1

Universal Resorts Townhomes: 3 BR $84.00, 5 BR $106.40

You might want to check out www.hotelmartusa.com , too.

If you're arriving on 12/20 and your timeshare doesn't start until 12/21, I would try and get a room through Priceline.

HTH!

thanks,
i will look on that site.hope i can change my brother in laws mind to stay on site.what do you think would it be better to stay on site or off site?what are the benfits of being there.i hear people say if you are going to do disney you have to stay on site.but then i hear you dont want to real stay on site it is to $$$$.im just so treid of tring to find a place to stay at.and just dont know where to stay.so if anybody knows of a place that can hold 4 adults,2 teens, and 2 little ones i sure would like to know thanks.again

That time is the most expensive for staying on-site, so it won't be cheap. Unless you went w/ a Home Away from Home or the cabins at Fort Wilderness, you would have to have 2 rooms, so I would hazard a guess that you would pay MIMIMUM of $200 per night (probably more than that), and that would be 2 rooms at All-Stars

Personally, I'd go off-site, but that's the frugalista in me!

There are lots of great places for $50 per night or less, but you have to know where to look.

I would do priceline for your first night also, if you need it. It takes a little time to learn how to use it, but you can get some wonderful rooms at great prices. Try reading the frequently asked questions section at www.biddingfortravel.com and also the orlando section. Play around on the priceline site to see how it works. Then post a request for bidding assistance at biddingfortravel & they'll help you.

Another place with condos is http://www.closesttodisney.com/ they have 2 or 3 bedroom condos in Windsor palms, which is nice. You can always email & ask if they have any special rates for your time frame.

For the 28th through the 2nd, it will be expensive to stay onsite, as you've already figured out. It's unlikely that there will be any discounts either. You're looking at $128 per room once you add in tax. Staying onsite during the holidays is nice, because you don't have to worry about parking & stuff, plus you get the extra magic hour (early entry) which gives you a headstart on the crowds. Also, on a really busy day like NYE, if they close the parks you can still get in somewhere. I'm not exactly sure what the rules are about that.
