Hi everyone!!:)

My best friend has been asked to go to Florida with her parents and they have offered to give her £1000 towards it. Unfortuately at the moment she can't afford an expensive holiday, and had originally turned down her parents offer, as she couldn't really afford to pay the difference.

She has now been offered a 3 bed condo in Davenport from a work colleague (£500 for 2 weeks) , and has mailed me the details to see what I think. But I am unsure where it is and wondered if anyone else could give me any ideas?

The condo is in a complex called Terrace Ridge and is apparently just off exit 58 on the I4 near a publix.

My friend has been to Florida before (she attended my wedding and stayed at Carribean Beach Resort and she has also stayed in Lake Buena Vista) but this will be her first trip with her two children (they will be 4 and 7) and I know that as she has been in great areas before she will find it even more important to be well situated for the children this time.

Do you think this sounds like it will be too far out??

Many thanks for any info!!:thumbsup2

Terrace Ridge is in the North Davenport area and quite southerly of WDW.

There is a Publix fairly nearby at Champion's Gate, it is nice around there and a lot of development has taken place over the past few years, but it is a fair trek to the parks if you are doing it every day.

It wouldn't be my ideal location and not where I would want to stay, but then we all have different opinions.

I do know TR is modern and from what I have heard well furnished and comfortable.
I just checked on one website, where it says "The journey from Terrace Ridge to Disney World is easy. Just drive out of the gate, take two right turns and you are in Disney World", which frankly is a ridiculous comment, however, I like the look of the place, the price is very good value for money, it wouldn't be my ideal location but other than the fact I would prefer to be a little further north there aren't a lot of negatives for me.

The best bet is to check the internet, and this site:

thanks ever so much Johnny - that is a very big help to me. I couldn't remember where that great map was from last time you helped me with villa locations!!;) I will need to remember that its on the Dibb site!!:thumbsup2

I too was worried about the drive for them as I wouldn't want to be too far out myself, especially with small children. If you don't mind I will read them your post and then they can make an informed decision - at least you know what you are talking about, unlike me who was simply guessing!!:goodvibes

Many thanks again!!:lovestruc

Amy, I'm not convinced that's the best price to be honest. When we stayed at Cypress Pointe (very very close to WDW in LBV) we only paid £36 per night for a 3 bedroom. This was for a week, so for a fortnight that is about the same as the price your friend's been offered. I don't know if it's still possible to get that price obviously or what time of year your friend wants to travel though?

thanks ever so much Karen - I will let them know that as I think that might help persuade them against the other one as I really don't think they will enjoy being so far out. hopefully see you soon xx:lovestruc

my sis has a condo on poncianna boulevard, pm me if you need more info

Karen, I just looked up Cypress Pointe on Johnny's map (or the Dibbs map should I say!!:goodvibes)and it looks like it is right next door to where this Terrace Ridge place is - is that right or is there more than one Cypress Pointe?

Thanks ever so much Netty:love: - where abouts is Poncianna Blvd? - I have looked at the map and I can't spot it (although that is probably me missing it rather than it not being on there!!;))

Poinciana Boulevard is just off the US192 in Kissimmee. If you look at the map, you will see villa developments such as Terre Verde, Cumbrian Lakes and more.
It is a long road, so the distance from the 192 can vary.

hers is a minute from the 192

That's a good location then, you have restaurants closeby, a Publix very nearby and easy access to the I4 and Disneyworld.
South I drive isn't a long drive either for Premium Outlets.

Must be different Amy. The Cypress Pointe we stayed at was within a mile of Disney's entrance off the 535.

Do you know where Crossroads is? It's on the same road as that, very close.

Thanks Karen, I know exactly where Crossroads is (the home of 'our' Red Lobster!!;)) and my friend will know as well so I will let her know that- thanks ever so much!:lovestruc

OMG!! I had forgotten that was your special Red Lobster!!

OK well say you are leaving WDW from DTD, heading towards Crossroads up Hotel Plaza Blvd? At the end of the road (where you drive under Mickey arches) do not go straight across to go to your Red Lobster. Go left. Then you go about a mile (maybe less actually), you go past a Denny's and Black Angus & Burger King on the right, garage and IHOP on the left, come to Palm Park way, keep going, and it's right up Vinings Way. CP is right there. I am guessing but I would say it is only approx 1 mile to Crossroads, so nothing in the car, and arguably walkable.....

:goodvibes thanks Karen I will let them know. Were you in a villa or is it a condo estate?

It's all condos Amy. We had a 3 bedroom one (two bedroom plus lockoff), we never used the lockoff bit to be honest!
