Condo Meeting 12/9

I was thinking of going.

Anyone ever been to one? Is there any entertainment value to the experience? Is there free coffee?

There are usually a few refreshments/beverages. Entertainment value, no not really. There is a board meeting, followed by the general members meeting. Both are fully scripted to meet legal requirements. They also present any plans for the year, for instance, the extension of OKW to 2057, and the OKW pool slide were announced at previous meetings. This is followed by a brief Q & A. Personally, I think it is good for a member to attend at least one of these so they can see a glimpse of the inner workings of the DVC Condo Association.

If you will already be at WDW, I would encourage you to attend. There is coffee!

While the business meetings are tightly scripted and all business (no input or comment from members is allowed - only the Board participates), the Member meeting that follows does provide opportunity for comment/questions from members and has always had a filmed section with upcoming DVC and Disney news. Last year, we saw a nice promotional piece about Aulani. In addition, there was also some entertainment during the Member portion of the meeting.

I have attended a number of these meetings over the years and plan to again this year. I would not plan a trip just for the meeting, but will always try to attend if one is being held during an already planned stay.

Well, I'm not so much going down for the meeting as I am using the meeting as an excuse to go on down

My favorite brother and dear sister-in-law will be there, and so I've made the plunge.

That sounds like a good enough excuse!

DVC will send out "official" announcement to all members soon with information about registering for the meeting. Last year it was held at the CR Convention center and (I think) will be there again this year. It has been held in a number of locations over the years. Early-on there was a separate meeting for each resort, but that changed a few years ago so that all resorts are represented at the one meeting. The GM from each resort will give a short update on accomplishments during the past year and what is scheduled for the coming year and there are opportunities for questions during the meeting as well as after it adjourns.
