It is between tarter sauce for fish and chips or cocktail sauce for shrimp.

I do like mustard for hot dogs but honestly I could live without hot dogs.

Okay I had to put salt because in cooking it's the only item that cannot be substituted for. It's basically the one thing that can improve the taste of almost anything, and the one thing that is the hardest to do without. I mean really unsalted food is pretty much gross and the corner stone of preserving many foods, and the reason it's was such a valuable item in the middle ages, seriously it was used as a form of currency.

However I don't consider that a real condiment. That would be ketchup.

I'm an other...must have cocktail sauce with shrimp and crab cakes. I also love salsa and really have to have mustard the few times a year I eat hot dogs.

I voted "salt" but that is really a spice rather than a condiment. My favorite condiment would be mayo.:earsboy:

Salt is my first choice. As a cook, I need salt to add flavor to foods.

My second choice would be mayo.

I love mustard (proper yellow mustard only! No dijon! :crazy2: ) and like ketchup. Anything else can go, especially mayonnaise.

BBQ sauce and ketchup a close 2nd.

BTW, you don't have HP sauce in America!!! Oh, no. It is the best thing to have with a bacon (that is English back bacon!) buttie!!

I have some in my fridge! They sell it at my Publix.

Mustard. I LOVE mustard.

Ketchup is a close second because I love it with french fries.

For a condiment I have to go with mayo.

For a spice I would go with salt.

ketchup

It's not my favorite condiment, but it's the most versatile and the most essential.
The following foods are worthless without ketchup:
French Fries, hash browns, any other fried potatoes.
Onion Rings.
Hamburgers.
Meatloaf.
Hot dogs.

Depends on the item, but I can tolerate almost any sandwich as long as I have mayo to go on it, so I voted for mayo. Other things scream for ketchup or mustard (or honey mustard).
