Concourse Steakhouse?

We have 3 families (12 people), friends from different areas, vacationing in Disney in October. There is one night we can all get together, and I made ADRs at Concourse Steakhouse, hearing it was a nice TS meal, convenient to MK by monorail (so we can go back for the fireworks after eating), and fine for a group with small children.

My husband recently read a negative review of CS in the Unofficial Guide and based on it, thinks we should try and change our plans.

What do the experts say? Will we be able to enjoy a nice meal at Concourse Steakhouse or is it as bad as my husband is telling me?

Assuming we could get seating somewhere else, does anyone have any recommendations for another TS meal convenient to MK (either in the GF or Poly.)?

Thanks

1st off all the Concourse Steakhouse is a great place to eat & you will have a great meal there.

I would not put to much stock into what the Unofficial Guide says, because if you read it carefully they are very critical of a lot of restaurants, which I think is the biggest negative of the book.

Finally I assume you won't be staying at the Contemporary, so unless you are getting there by Disney Transport (if your staying at another WDW Resort) your not supost to go to the Magic Kingdom for Wishes, once your meal is done because you are taking up a parking space for a Contemporary guest who is staying there.

Now like I said before if your comming by a Disney Transport bus to the Magic Kingdom & then getting to the Contemporary then you should not feel bad about going to see Wishes, since you would not be taking up a Contemporary parking space.

Concourse Steakhouse has a pretty good dinner, but I adore their breakfast. Love those Eggs Benedict with asparagus.

Take the bus from your resort to the MK, then the monorail over to Contemporary. You can either walk back (after that great dinner) or take the monorail back over (the long way - goes clockwise from CR).

We've eaten there and really enjoyed it. The food, service and location were all good.

We don't have a car. We're coming from either VWL (so will boat over) or MK itself (and will monorail.)

I didn't know you could walk back to MK from the contemporary? About how far a walk is that?

We are just back from a trip with 3 families (14 people) and had a great meal at the Concourse Steak House. Everone enjoyed the food, the kids loved watching the monorail go through, and it was very relaxing. We walked from our bus stop at the MK, wasn't far at all, maybe 10 minutes. Then we took the monorail back to the MK (we were too stuffed to think about walking anywhere ;) , which the kids enjoyed. I don't think you'll regret dining there.

Also, Chef Mickey's is at the Contemporary which is alot of fun and great character interaction. It is a buffet and very loud though, definitely a different experience than the Concourse.

Have fun!

Concourse is a good meal, it's like a restaurant in a nicer business hotel though (except that you can see the monorail, which is cool, and it's in the Contemporary:thumbsup2 ).

There is no real theming, the food is good but standard 'nicer' steakhouse fare. We probably won't go back, not because it wasn't fine, but because there are more interesting places to dine. If I'm going to the Contemporary, it will be to the CG or Chef Mickey's, if there are kids along. (If your kids haven't been to Chef Mickey's, they are going to spend dinner at the Concourse craning their necks to try to see the action over there, which can be heard loud and clear.)

Doing the same. MK all day, take the monorail over to the "Concourse Steak House" for dinner, then back on the monorail for the fireworks. As for the reviews I do not put much into them, what one person hates the next loves. All it matters is that you like it, not if someone else like it.

We (family or 12) ate there 2 times last trip. It was SO yummy :) My Mom is a personal chef and is really picky; she loved it and even talked with the chef. They all ate there one more time but my part of the family needed time alone. They said the 1st time was the best and the second was almost as good :)

I too was surprised at the poor review because we loved it :)

We've never had dinner there and never been with a large group. That said, it is one of our fav places for breakfast. We too are huge fans of their eggs bene and breakfast is never crowded. DS15 said the coffee was awful and they made a fresh pot for him - still not good but they tried. He also is a huge fan of lunch there being a beef eater when given the chance. We always walk there from MK - it is not a bad walk, I have also always thought the wait staff to be very helpful. Maybe not as "polished" as upstairs in CG but definitely helpful and interested in serving.

We had a good dinner there. We were a group of 9 all seated together around a large round table. Tad crowded, but we were all together. I think everyone that got steak enjoyed their meal. My daughter got a pasta dish and didn't really care for it - wasn't what she expected. Service was good. We had 5pm ADR, right at opening. Actually got there early and had to wait until they were open and ready to serve.

It seems I am in the minority here, but we ate at Concourse last year and were very disappointed. The food was mediocre, atmosphere with Chef Mickey's next door was anything but relaxing, and the service was terrible! We were spoiled with wonderful dinners at Spoodles and Boma...the Concourse Steakhouse just didn't measure up.

The concourse steakhouse is a nice place to eat and the food is very good as well as service better then LeCellers IMHO . You can park at CS if you are a Disney resort guest anywhere on property. You are given a 3 hour pass for your ADR.

I consider the Councouse to be the most underrated restaurant on property. You get very good food and generally very good service. The ambiance is nothing to write home about, but from most places you can wave to people going by in the monorails and the prices are not outrageous. I thin the only downside is sometimes the noise from Chef Mickey's.

As far as getting there from MK, if you figure the distance between the MK entrance and the bus parking the distance from the bus parking to the Contemporary is about the same. Or, of course, it is the first stop on the resorts monorail from MK.

And btw, I disagree with most of the Unofficial Guide's reviews and, as many people do, feel they are very inaccurate.

Dh and I ate there for the first time in July, and we had a wonderful meal!

We just ate at the Concourse last Friday and had a great meal with good service, I would highly recommend it. This was our second meal there and both were very good. My older son says it was his favorite meal of the week which included 'Ohana, Le Cellier, Cape May Cafe, Raglan Road and 2 character meals. Don't change your reservations, I really think you'll enjoy it!!

Have a great time!!!!

Chris

We love this place. We go several times per trip because the food and service are consistently quite good. I've never had a bad meal there. Please don't cancel your adr, it's really worth a try.
