Help please - I need some advice...

We will be on the dining plan when we are at WDW later this month. We are staying at the Ploynesian and I have made all of our ADRs. I am struggling with the reservation for our last night. We booked Concourse Steakhouse, but were thinking about Coral Reef. We booked Concourse mostly for the convenience based on the proximity to the Poly. We have eaten there before and have never been that impressed. The issue is that we are eating at Epcot on Saturday night and DH is not sure he wants to make the trip back to Epcot on Sunday evening as well for Coral Reef. He is thinking of convenience so that we can have a little down time without running so much.

We have a 6 year old and a 3 year old and I want to do something that will be enjoyable for all of us. Can anyone give me any feedback on their experiences at either of these restaurants? Any advice is always appreciated. Thanks!

what other places have you eaten?

Reply to Pickles -

This trip we have reservations at Kona Cafe, Liberty Tree Tavern, and Le Celier. On past trips we have eaten at San Angel in Mexico, Narcoossees at GF, California Grill, etc...

Here I thought I was going to be able to offer great wisdom, but alas you have eaten most the places I have.
I have not tried concourse..tho we have ressies for our next trip, and I have never done coral reef

Have you tried HoopDeDoo? It is well worth the money and the kids will have a blast

I am not sure how much help I can give. However we have eaten at both restaurants. We had a great meal at both. Personally I dont think I would make the extra trip to Epcot to go to Coral Reef. We are going back again in August and are on the DDp. Our DS14 would rather eat at concourse over Coral Reef, so that is where we will be making our reservations for.

We were disappointed with Coral Reef in Dec. We have always enjoyed it, but the prime rib was not edible - and I will eat just about anything that I don't have to cook! Perhaps if we had stuck to seafood there it would have been better. :confused3

Ate at Coral Reef in December. Was the one TS I regretted. The was decent, but the service poor. My disappointment wasn't that the restaurante was bad or anything, just that there are so many better choices in EPCOT (and Disney in general).

Thank you to everyone for your replies. I just love the DISboards! I can get answers to all of my questions and great advice! I appreciate your responses!

Aloha!

We have eaten at the Coral Reef twice and it is one of my favorites.
We botyh got the steak and it was perfect each time we went.
The atmosphere is just fantastic with the divers, turtles and sharks swimming around.
We love it!

You might enjoy the WCC at WL. Just a boat ride away.(Well take the monorail to the MK and catch the boat.) Quick and fun to get there. I admit it is not our cup of tea but it really is a fun place with good food and where you need it to be.

Did not see Ohanna's at the Polly) on your list. It is our absolute favorite and our only repeat resturant this trip.

Cheif Mickey?? monorail ride to the the Cont. FUN!!

LTT ride over to the MK. Our favorite CM of all times.

Little more fancy...Try Artist Point also at the WL.

We really enjoy night at the WS so we do not mind a trip to Epcot for dinner but we were NOT impressed with the Coral Reef at all.

We love the Coral Reef Restaurant. The kids love watching for the divers to come into the tank. We get early reservations so we have a good chance of sitting next to the tank.

I hate to see some bad stuff about the restaurant in recent reviews. We have ADRs there this month. I hope it is good that night!

I have eaten at both places. We just returned and ate at Coral Reef. We loved the atmosphere, as did our kids. The food was very good. Service was just ok, but we had a fabulous view of the aquarium. If your kids are like mine (I'll bet they are!!!!) they will love watching sharks and turtles while they dine!

Just returned home last night!

We ate, for the first time, at both Coral Reef and Concourse Steakhouse. Coral Reef was, by far, my favorite meal of the trip! I had the blackened catfish and DH had the tuna. THe food, even appetizers, was wonderful!! The restaurant itself if beautiful.

Concourse steakhouse was good...but nothing special. I had a steak and it was a steak. Nothing out of this world.

I didn't read all the responses so I hope I don't repeat.

I don't really like the concourse. Good food but I feel like I am at the food court in the mall.

My dd loved the Coral Reef when she was 16 months. We are going back again.

BUT, I do agree with your dh. I would want to stay near your resort on the last evening. Why not switch the Coral Reef and Kona Cafe PS?

OR I have heard that the 1900 Park Fare at the GF is really fun and has good food. That would be close to your resort and your kids would really end the vacation with a treat.

I second the post about Ohana's. We LOVED it! They will allow kids to order off of the other menu and they still sampled some of what we had. We were very disappointed in Concourse. Both food and service was terrible. Coral Reef was very good but I doubt we will do it again. So many places to try, so few days to do it in! Good luck!
