My Dh and I will be celebrating our 20th wedding anniversary this Sept. in WDW with the kids... We'll be staying at the Poly and DH and I have considered taking the Monorail to the Concourse for a romantic dinner...The 2 oldest 16, & 13 have said they will watch their little brother... (they do this all the time at home, he's very good for them...)

Would you recommend the Concourse? I've read the menu at Deb's site and it sounds pretty good! Or do you think there are better choices on the monorail? We like everything from Seafood to Steak, we loved Boma, we're pretty open to new things...recomendations? TIA!!

Concourse Steakhouse is a great restaurant. DH and I took DDs (4 1/2 yrs and 22 months at the time) there without a PS when we were tired at the end of a day at MK. This was actually our #1 meal for that trip. Having said that, romantic it ain't!! Chef Mickey's is right next door and the "wall" is really only a divider; it doesn't go to the ceiling becasue there really isn't a ceiling there. Plus the monorail is constantly going by. Both of these features made it a great place for DH and I to enjoy a more leisurely meal while DDs were distracted.

If you want romance (and for a 20th anniversary, you deserve it!), I would go with the California Grill (CR), Citricos (GF) or Narcoossee's (GF), especially if you want to stay onthe monorail loop. Personally, I have not eaten at any of them, but their menus look awesome, and according to others, the atmosphere is outstanding.

Hope this helps.

Congrats on your 20th :goodvibes I don't know that I'd call it romantic, but it's not as rowdy as the character meals, and it's not as popular with little kids, so that tones it down some. The food is enjoyable, but not outstanding.
We enjoy watching the monorail go through, and it's kind of dark, so it's a bit relaxing. :earsboy:

I'm not sure Concourse Steakhouse will qualify as a "romantic" venue per se. It's an above-average all-purpose (meaning, it's open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner) hotel restaurant.

If you want to spend some money and want something truly special, try Citricos or California Grille.

I know you said you're staying at the Poly, for a meal quieter than the Concourse at Contempory, I would eat at Kona Cafe (menu here > http://www.allearsnet.com/menu/menu_kcd.htm)

Otherwise, with your older DS sitting, you could venture into a park to eat - the Castle for Dinner would add just a nice sparkle of romance - then for a nice quiet, but lengthy walk go to Epcot's Le Cellier - its definately quiet, dark atmosphere...

Congrats!! :cheer2: (we're at 24 if you ask dh!!)

Thanks everyone for the "heads up" about Concourse being next to Chef Mickey's... I didn't realize...
I checked Cali Grill, Citricos and Narcoossee's menu's...I'm thinking my DH would like Narcoosse's menu also, ( just mention salmon, steak or crab cakes and he's ready!! )... If anyone has any tips about Narcoossee's...just jump in!

Thanks for the 20th congrats :) we started "dating" right before I turned 16 and dated for 5 years ...so we've actually been together 25 years......when we go to weddings he has to remind me that he asked me 3 times to marry him, and as they say the 3rd time's a charm...

I'd love to go back to Le Cellier...but I'm a bit worried about the crowds...we go the first weekend of the F&W Festival...mmmmcheese soup and pretzel bread, now I'm hungry :teeth:

We did both California Grill and Narcoossee's on our last trip, and I'd choose Narcoossee's for the adult's night out. It's smaller and more intimate -- a much quieter place for adults to relax. You sit overlooking the lagoon and it's so nice. California Grill, while it has a spectacular view, is very loud and busy. The food is delicious, though, so either one would be a gret choice.

While I love California Grill, based on what you said about your husband I think Narcoosies would be a good choice. It has good food, it is right on the water (I like waterfront restaurants) And pretty much every table has a good view of the castle.

Another choice might be the Grand Floridian Cafe. You could take the monorail to dinner and then walk it off going back via the Wedding Pavilion to the Polynesian. Time it right for the Magic Kingdom fireworks and/or the Electrical Water Parade. Grab a hammock on the beach.

Save Concourse for a lunch - Chef Mickey's is closed then.

Last June we celebrated our 25th Anniversary at the California Grill. They seated us in the Wine Room, much quieter and intimate - about 6 -8 tables at most.
We were at WDW with our "kids" as well, but the youngest was 16 then and the 2 older ones were working there at the time....I surprised my DH with the MK fireworks cruise after dinner at CG....told him I wanted to walk out to the marina and look at the boats and the lake (we had stayed at CR many years ago - he accommodated me due to the anniversary).....our "kids met us at the dock and we all did the cruise. They all loved it. We didn't do anything special on the cruise...just the 5 of us and the Skipper watching wishes from the lagoon......AWESOME!!!!! ANd it worked well with the location. We even got dropped off at the Poly instead of the CR. Something else for you to consider (no matter which monorail restaurant you choose).

My thoughts:

I think Concourse Steakhouse would be noisy without Chef Mickey's next door and noisy isn't romantic to my mind.

I think many find Narcoosie's to be noisy as well, though I'd say the visual ambience is nice. Watching the castle change colors is magical.

It's been so long since I've been to California Grill and I've never been to Citrico's so I have no thoughts on those.

I second (third?) the suggestions regarding Kona Cafe and the Grand Floridian Cafe if you're looking for something a little quieter and a little less dramatic price-wise. Views while dining will not match Narcoosie's (or CG), though.

We ate here this past week. My whole family disliked it greatly. It was our worst meal. Nothing romantic about this place. Just my opinion of course!! :sad2:
