Concord, North Carolina?

Does anyone live here or is anyone familiar with this area? We want to move to NC hopefully next summer and was looking at this area. How are the schools? Do you recommend a better area for schools? TIA

Concord is my hometown. I currently live in the Greensboro area. My parents and one brother still live in Concord. It is a great market for jobs. The schools are OK -no worse than other adjacent suburban counties, but better than some. NC schools in general are in need of some help. We are fooling ourselves when it comes to our standards for standardized testing, but that's a whole other topic....

My parents are both school teachers in Charlotte schools and are very unhappy with the current turmoil surrounding underperforming schools there. Concord/ Cabarrus County schools have none of those issues AFAIK. I suspect, and this is just a hunch, that some of the schools are becoming overcrowded. But I know plans are underway for at least one new high school. (Have an uncle and a couple of cousins in the know about the HS situation.)

Hope your possible move works out. Piedmont NC needs all the nice Disney folks we can get.

Has a GREAT mall! Concord Mills is one of my favorites (we're going this weekend). It's also close to the racetrack if your into NASCAR, and close to Charlotte which is a neat city.

I lived in Concord back in 97-99. I miss it something and we hope to move back there as soon as we can. We lived on the Concord/Kannapolis line. The boys went to Northwest High which was a great school. We really loved it there. I could go from my house to Ericsson stadium (where the Carolina Panthers play) in 30 minutes flat. That was heavan to me! LOL
While I'm not exactly sure of the current school system I would move back into the Northwest High District.
If you need the name of a good real estate agent let me know. I sold real estate when I lived there.

I went to visit my sister there who lives near the Concord Mills mall. Any mall that has an anchor store that is the Bass Pro Shops is a great mall to me!!
