Concierge???

What is the deal with concierge level?? We are going in Nov and we booked 3nights each at AKL and Poly concierge levels at both. I know about the community type rooms but what else is provided? Or what can be done for us that normally we couldn't do? We are very excited about it but we really do not know what to expect..

Concierge service is great. We don't usually take full advantage of their services because we don't do a lot of dining ressies before we get their. But we love the Concierge lounge and the special treatment. It is a nice treat for our family!

We're doing concierge in Nov also. One very helpful thing is they will set up any dining reservations for you. Just give them the information on what restaurants and times, and they will attempt to get that for you, then mail you out an itinerary. They also can assist with any special items you may want waiting in your room for kids, etc. Have fun!

I just have to ask. If you didn't know what concierge was, why would you book it? Do you just have money to burn? I'm not trying to be a jerk - I really am curious why you would pay an extra $100-$125 per night when you didn't know what the extra money was buying.

I wish I could book room like that. We go to Disney several time a year and usually do a value resort, a moderate resort and then splurge on a concierge stay.

If you book concierge for a stay coming up quickly (say 6 weeks out) would they still be able to get you reservations for things? I am thinking of adding a few nights at the GF, but if I book SLC, would it REALLY matter at this point?

Anything you wish to pay for. If you call IPO, the staff is wonderful. If you don't have ideas, they will help you. They do require a CC#.

In our case, we first booked POLY concierge many years ago because that was the only way to guarantee a lagoon view, beachfront room. That was the type of room that we wanted and we were okay with spending that extra money for that type of room. It wasn't until after we booked it that we actually learned what the concierge staff did! From that point on we were hooked! 17 days and counting!!!

if you are staying concierge they can make all of your adr's for you. If you are trying to get a coveted one (CRT for example) it is easier to let them do it. Since they book directly online they are almost sure to get whatever you want.

I forgot too-- one time we tried to call from our room to get into O'hanas character breakfast. They were completely booked. I stopped down at the concierge desk (we were at the Poly) and explained what I had done and asked what other breakfasts were good. The concierge said "oh, there's always room for our concierge guests, what time would you like?".

They are also sitting right there at their computers at 8:00 a.m. when lots of the cancellations are released so they can jump on them for their guests, that way we don't have to sit here every morning calling to see if there is any availability! Last year they were able to get us a last minute Illuminations cruise that way!

We ended up staying concierge at the WL and the Polynesian, and now in 3 weeks we'll be back at the Polynesian concierge again. I guess we're hooked now too! LOL 23 days and counting!!!


To try and answer the OP's question, there are some things that staying concierge provided us, which we couldn't have provided for ourselves. First of all, we really appreciated having access to the concierge lounge for the entire check-out day. In the late afternoon while waiting for our limo to pick us up we had a place to relax in, DSs played cards, we all had drinks and snacks, and our carryons were stored right by the desks for us.

Also, I had asked concierge to have the gold Mickey ears with our names embroidered on them waiting in our room for us, and they were able to do this with no problem.

The best part of all happened at dinner on our anniversary. I had ordered a small "wedding" cake as a surprise to my DH. These cakes are made at the Grand Floridian bakery, and they don't deliver. I asked concierge (Polynesian), if they'd be able to have someone pick the cake up for us at the GF, and then arrange to have it brought out after dinner, the night we dined at 'Ohana. If I would've had to go pick the cake up myself, my DH obviously would've wondered where They handled this perfectly for me, and DH was quite surprised to see the cake heading our way. As far as booking dining reservations, I like to do that myself, so I haven't had concierge do much of that for me. I also booked my own Around the World at Epcot Segway tour.

Oh, and another benefit of staying concierge is often they're able to get you into a fully booked restaurant on the same night

We are staying Poly conciere 12/29-12/31 after 4 nights at Our home resort of OKW. We just got our itinerary with all our dining choices from Jeffrey with a big Mahalo! He is great and we didn't really ask for much because we are only there for 2 nights. They respond very quickly to all e-mails or other requests and are extremely welcoming. Can't wait for the splurge(its all on our Disney Visa rewards $$$.

We also are at Disney a few times a year and we are not burning money. We happen to have alot of vacation club points and need to use a certain amount this trip which also includes a 3 day cruise after our stay at Poly. We also have an Autistic son who we try to make sure that each trip to Disney is special so we were just trying find out what can be done at the concierge level to make his stay more enjoyable. I hope that answered your question.

Not for nothing, but I stayed at concierge level last year at the CR. I knew practically nothing about it except that I kept reading about it on these boards. I asked a bunch of questions on here to find out more about it. I didn't have "money to burn" just wanted to try something everyone else raved about. I loved it and I'm sure the OP will too.
