Has anyone had experience in this area? What did you do? What was a typical day like? In the list of possible responsibilities on the CP website it says "Handling cash and other forms of payment, including foreign currencies exchange" does that mean you have to be familiar with foreign currencies exchange to do the job or is that part of the computer?

wish i could give some info but for all i know it's a new role that was recently added. so you and others that got this role will be the first group to have the concierge role.

oh, ok. I wondered...I've been planning on doing the CP and I didn't remember seeing that role before. I didn't get that role, I was looking over roles to see what role I wanted to apply for.

I've worked at hotels before and done foreign currency exchange, its really quite easy. It is all done through the computer. They hand you currency, you count the amount and type it into the computer, then it tells you to give them xxx dollars. Take that amount out of your drawer, add the foreign stuff in, and you are done.

Its super easy, I wouldnt worry about it.

oh i'm sorry. i thought you were accepted. but yeah it's a new role disney recently posted about 1.5 months ago. are you planning on going for concierge in the future?

Concierge used to be a role that CPs working at the front desk could be promoted into. I've had several friends who worked the role... you would help guests book reservations, find things they are looking for, arrange any special accomodations, and give general trip advice.

I never did a CP but I worked as a concierge for boardwalk... Basically you sell tickets to disney and other disney events, make reservations for dining, shows, tours, golf, and other rec. You also have to know all the front desk stuff because guests will come to you whining about their rooms so you have to be able to take care of that as well. As for currency exchange, I did it once in a year of working there, there's a calculator, and you give them US dollars from your drawer and deposit the foreign currency at the end of the night. It's super easy and you have to know vast amounts about the properties.

Oh no problem. Yes, I plan on using the role as one of my choices. But, I wanted to know more about it before I did.
Thanks for all the info! :)

maybe by the time you apply there will some people here on the dis that will be able to give you some insight of this role. or if you have facebook you could check to see if there is a group for people who have done concierge at disney, seeing as how facebook seem to have a million and one groups.

1) Let me jump in.
2) Not a CP, but a concierge at Deluxe & DVC resorts.
3) It can be fun and interesting, and you should like it.
4) But, recognize it for what the job is and is not.

5) You are there as a sales person, and they tell you that in training.
. . . your first 5-day training class teaches you how to do Front Desk check-in
. . . your 3-day concierge training class concentrates ONLY on how to sell tickets
. . . you learn on-the-job how to make WDW dinner reservations
. . . the weekly or monthly contests are ticket sales contests
. . . your services are WDW-related only, with no off-site related duties
. . . you are not a concierge with wide-ranging scope, such as at other hotels

6) Your daily duties do include
. . . sell park tickets *
. . . make dinner ressies at WDW parks and resorts *
. . . make ressies for activities, dinner shows, cirque
. . . answer a few WDW questions
. . . give directions
. . . cash checks and traveler checks (once or twice per week)
. . . handle foreign cash (once every few months)
. . . help check-in guests, like front desk clerk, during daily busy periods
7) Your duties do not include
. . . making dinner ressies at off-site non-WDW restaurants
. . . making theater reservations at off-site non-Disney locations
. . . making arrangements for off-site non-Disney activities

* Selling tickets and making dinner ressies are about 95% of the job.

thank you for that! it was really helpful. I haven't decided just yet if I want to list it as a possibility but it does sound fun. Thanks again! :)
