What's the difference?

is it worth the extra points? do you get a better view? what kind of service make is more special?

thanks.

No better views, that's for sure!

With Concierge, you get:

  • Advanced Walt Disney World itinerary planning service
  • Personalized front desk and Concierge service
  • Daily housekeeping service and evening turndown with chocolates
  • Secured key access to 6th floor and Club Level lounge
  • Weekday newspaper delivery of USA Today
  • Assistance with special events planning and shopping
  • Club Level Lounge refreshments

One of the best perks for us was the ability to book the sunrise and sunset safaris with priority and a price reduction. We figure the Concierge level will be difficult to book once AKV gets really going in sales, so we have it booked for this March. We likely wont ever book it again unless we REALLY get hooked on it!

In my opinion the best perks of staying concierge at Animal Kingdom are the ability to book the Sunrise Safari and the food/beverage offerings in the lounge. While the lounge offerings aren't enough to make a meal of (except for a continental breakfast type meal), they are great for a little treat here and there. Plus, the pre-planning assistance is nice as well.

what is that?

do you have to specifically book savannah view?

i was going over the points and if we deduct 2 days we can do the points - and the 2 days we save we can spend at dh aunt's house longer.

i'm actually shocked that it isn't more points. it does sound like a good deal when you take into account that we wouldn't have to pay for breakfast which could potentially save $40-50 per day for buffett breakfast.

You have a 50/50 change of gettting a great view at akv but if you used point for a normal hotel room you will get a great room.

I have stay at disney hotel as Concierge both in wdw and wdl and I will never stay in a level below that.

It is all in what you like we have enough points were we tend to go all out.

The person below is giving a opinion and it is not the feeling of all dvc people.

We're staying CL at AKV in June and can't wait! The advanced itinerary planning service has been absolutely wonderful. I emailed them my ADR requests and got all of them. I had forgotten to list my wife's food allergies on the ADRs, so I emailed them yesterday and got confirmation that the food allergies were noted on every ADR.

They also made my reservations for the Sunset Safari and I requested reservations for the Wilderness Tour and a specialty cruise, which can be booked at the 90 day window. Don and the other people at the itinerary planning service are going to book that for me, I won't have to call Disney at 4am PST! Woohoo!

I've also requested some surprise stuff for my wife (gifts, flowers etc) and they are going to have them in the room for her when we arrive.

We're so impressed with the level of service that CL offers already and we haven't even checked in yet! :cool1:

how would I go about contacting the advanced itinerary planning service? we have concierge booked for part of our April trip, but haven't heard from anyone yet about booking things.

If you are staying at ALK Concierge, you can email itinerary planning at:

animal.kingdom.lodge.itinerary.planning @ disneyworld. com

Spaces put in so that the whole email addy would show up. Remove the spaces when you send your email.

David, I'm not sure what you meant by your comment. Of course, practically every post on this board is someone's opinion, and I certainly didn't say that my opinion is the same as every other DVC member.

However, this is a DVC forum and the only DVC concierge rooms are at AKV, and the views from these rooms are not very good, IMO. You either get a view of the pool area or a view of the Sunset savanna, which right now means you'll be seeing the construction of Kidani Village.

Spending your points to stay at a non-DVC resort concierge/club room, IMO, is not a good use of one's points. Again, that is just my opinion. ;)

Why aren't the concerige views any good? Can you explain? I really want to try one, just how bad are the views?

Back in our pre-DVC days, we have stayed in most of the concierge locations in the various WDW resorts. We never paid extra... we just knew how to book the right booking codes. In fact... we generally would get a very steep discount, usually $99/night for the lagoon view rooms w/concierge. We have never stayed in the concierge rooms at AKV however.

In my opinion... it is absolutely not worth the extra that WDW charges for concierge service. Also... given the choice between a great view, and concierge service, my priority would be on the better view even if the concierge service was free.

This is very much JUST my personal opinion :)

one would think that paying more would mean a better view or at least the same as a room that cost less (either in points or cash)

i know you get free food, newspaper, different check in and a few other things but the view should be part of that - don't ya think?

There are only 5 concierge 2 bedroom lockoffs (can also be booked as a 1 bedroom or studio). 3 face the savannah and 2 face the pool. You do not specificially book pool or savannah view, it's only a request.

You can see the locations on a map on this thread, they are highlighted in pink:

Anyone have any pictures of the view, both Savannah and pool, from the CL AKV rooms?

Plus conceirge isn't was it was 5 years ago. I don't know what happened, but we stayed at AK conceirge for my birthday years ago and it was OK - we wanted the Sunrise Safari, which was cancelled due to weather!!!!

Then we stayed at the WL conceirge our last trip, we received an AP rate and watch out. We were almost knocked over by people grabbing the food, taking 12 drinks, etc. It was really disgusting. My DF 76 likes Miller Lite and I went over to the desk and asked for the supply to be replenished - the Conceirge infomed me it was just put out - and I informed her that one man took them all. One woman was shoving food so fast into her mouth that she started to choke. We jumped up to help her - but she recovered on her own.

I had heard stories - but really never believed them about peoples behavior at conceirge level - until I saw it for myself. I will not pay the extra price again.

I stayed concierge at AKV in December and saw no behavior like you describe. None at all.

There can always be a bad experience, but I wouldn't paint all of concierge as being bad due to one experience.

I should clarify - I have stayed concierge at the POLY, AKL, and WL over the years and have found a degradation of services and perks offered. I'm now a DVC member and usually will not stay at this level, but found a great AP rate and we were able to extend our stay last minute. I wanted the lounges to be able to spread out in. It's tough going from a 2 BR to a hotel room.

Part of my job title is Quality Improvement - so I tend to notice a lot of things that normal people do not notice. It's hard to shut it off. It drives my DH nuts.
