Concierge - Upgrade to 1BR?

We upgraded to a one bedroom for the November 29th sailing. We were in Family with Verandah Concierge before. Our TA said that with Covid there are some ships where you can't upgrade at Port, but you just don't know until we get there. With the level we were at the different she estimated at Port vs before Port wasn't that big so I just did it for a sure thing. I am already stressed out enough on travel days so just not worrying about that is enough for me. It could be different though if you aren't already concierge and worth trying at Port to save the money for something else.

Oh yes, I was trying to get a sense of the estimated cost of such an upgrade at the port, based on others' prior experience. Right now it's a $4,000 difference -- so, from others' experiences, should I expect that if an upgrade were to be available it's likely to be 50% of that, 75%, etc.

However, it seems that isn't allowed to be discussed?
No rule against discussing—there actually used to be a thread on here where people posted what they paid at port for upgrades and what they were upgrading from. It all depends on cruise length, time of year etc too though so hard to draw comparisons. It did seem like you could get around half off the normal upgrade price in some cases, but not much more than that.

Got it, thank you! Yes definitely a lot of variables. :) If we decide to ask at the port, I'll be sure to post an update.

Our first cruise was a Mexican Riviera cruise in 2011, we upgraded from an 11B GTY assigned at 11A I believe to a navigator veranda on the wonder for $400 for a 7 night cruise. In 2014 we booked in IGT room and the OGT was about $500 more. At check in we asked about an upgrade and the OV room was $700 more so we passed.

Back with an update! An upgrade to a 1BR for us today would have been just over $3000, less than the $4000 it would have been yesterday. We opted not to for this one.

jimandshane, were you already booked in Concierge Family Veranda room and was hoping to upgrade to 1BR? Was this on Dream? It sounds like not much saving at the port. Did you arrive to port early via DCL transfer? We are on 7 nights 12/26 Fantasy and I was interested in upgrading to 1BR. Thanks for your post.

We cruised in October on a 6 night Fantaasy cruise. We were in a 4A and going to the one bedroom was $2800. We paid around 5k originally, so our total for 4 people was less than 8k after the upgrade. Going to the regular concierge suite was $1300 for us. Concierge only had 11 booked cabins, and about 8 people upgraded. Tons of inventory for this cruise.

Yes we were already booked in Concierge and asked for upgrade price for the 4 of us to 1BR. It’s on the Fantasy. We did arrive via DCL transport from WDW.
