Concierge Upgrade at Check In?

Has anyone ever asked to be upgraded at check in? I am willing to pay for the upgrade, but my rate right now is $205 and the concierge rate is about $300 a night higher which I am NOT willing to pay. I wondered if they might be more reasonable at check in.

It certainly wouldn't hurt to ask if concierge is available, and what the upgrade would cost. If they have availability, you might luck out. We were once upgraded for free, without asking. It was just for one night, but boy were we pleased!

They might even just take the price of your room (it's rack rate) and subtract it from the price of a concierge room (it's rack rate) and charge you that difference.
