Okay, I'm new here so please forgive me for asking a stupid queston. But, I'm wondering what all does concierge service do? I keep reading about people saying they had concierge service but no one ever says exactly what it contains. We are planning a trip, is concierge worth the extra money? Thank you for helping to educate me!! :earseek:

Welcome to the DIS!! You've come to the right place. Let me see if I can help a little.....Concierge service usually puts you in a particular location of the hotel. Sometimes a special floor, sometimes a section that is usually only accessible by an elevator key or door key. A lounge is available to you during your stay where you can relax, watch TV and have refreshments (included in the cost of your room). Those refreshments include a rather extensive breakfast each morning with coffee, juice, soda, bagels, muffins, fruit, cereals, etc. There are snacks during the day (popcorn, goldfish crackers, gummies, chips, drinks, etc. In the evening they have a couple of hours when you can get wine and beer as well as some sort of light appetizers. Then later in the evening they will have desserts and cordials available. Sodas are available all day long. You also get pre-planning help from an itinerary planner. They can help you make your ADR's and plan any special activities that you want (Illuminations cruises, etc.) They will also do shopping for you and have gifts waiting in your room (you pay for the items of course). It's really a feeling of being pampered the whole time you are there. It's not cheap and some people don't feel it's worth the $$$. But it's a wonderful way to experience your vacation and I love it!! Any other questions and I'll try to help.

Thank you soooo much for all of your help!! Can you recommend any resort above the others? They all look so wonderful it's hard to choose! :earsboy:

As you can see from my sign on name YC is my favorite but all have their own magic. It just depends on what you and your family particularly like. I'm returning to the YC again next July for the 4th year in a row but I am also trying the AKL next time too with 3 days at the end of my vacation. I've stayed in everything from the All-Stars to POFQ to the Poly to the BW and BC. I like the location near Epcot. There's so much to do at night and Stormalong Bay can't be beat as far as pools go. Themeing has a lot to do with it. I like the full balconies at YC but I spend time sitting out there taking in the surroundings. If that's not as important to you then you might prefer someplace else. You really can't go wrong. You're at Disney!! I will say that I think the pre-planning staff that serves the YC/BC/BWI is the best on property though.

Our upcoming trip to BWI is our first time staying concierge, so I can't recommend one concierge over the other (though I must say that the planning office has been just fantastic with all of our ADRs and such). We are huge fans of the Epcot resort area and have stayed at the BWV and Beach Club. We love the proximity to both Epcot and MGM and the atmosphere of the area - lots of fun at night.

We enjoyed the Poly concierge this summer for a week and thought it was great! We loved all the food offerings and the nice lounge area (watched Wimbledon on the big screen one morning with a nice man from England  ). It was so nice to be able to grab a cool beverage anytime you wanted and we loved the lounge in the evenings too with the fireworks. For our group of 5, we only ate other meals maybe twice during our stay. We didn't utilize the pre-planning near as much as we could have, it's just that I'm such a compulsive planner that I did all of that for our entire stay (3 weeks). It's hard to say whether it's worth it money-wise for this service, some think the food alone, others really like the special services concierge offers, others prefer the locations that it gets you. We go at least once a year and we stay all over from value to Poly Concierge and love every stay we have! Look at all your options and read up here there is a ton of great info. Have fun planning.

Trene, I have stayed at the concierge at the GF many times and it's worth the extra money, go ahead and splurge and have fun ! :cool1:

in April. I am wondering what the cost is per night to upgrade to concierge? Is it possible to split a stay with a few days concierge and the rest not? Would you need to change rooms at WL to do this?

Also, how popular is concierge at WL? How possible might it be to upgrade at check-in (not complimentary, we would pay of course)? It is the middle of spring break season.

Just trying to plan an extra special vacation for my DS & DD's b-days.

Thanks in advance.

It's normally $100-150 more per night.

Yes.

Sometimes.

It's rather popular, and it will very likely be full if you do'nt book ahead.

IMHO, concierge at WL wasn't all that. You could save a ton of money by simply having treats delivered via room service or the WDW FLorist each day.

A while ago, many people reported getting a great deal at the WL to upgrade at check-in, but I haven't seen that for a long time. Most likely you'll end up paying the rack rate difference at check-in and as Anne posted, that's about $100 to $150 more per night. Plus, if you wait until check-in, IMO, you're missing out on one of the best concierge benefits, the pre-planning assistance.

we are using a great TA that is assisting us with our pre-planning and ADR's so that I wouldn't necessarily need. I was thinking more in terms of the pampering aspect while there and use of the lounge. It seems as though it may be a bit pricey if I'm not going to use it 100%.
