Can anyone tell me what the Concierge Service that comes with Cats 1, 2 & 3 encompasses? I mean, will they make your reservations for you for Palo, Spa, excursions, etc.? Can you access it before you board, like you can with the concierge at WDW?
Concierge will take care of everything when you get on board. However, if you want you can call Debbie in Concierge before your cruise (407-566-7411 - 8:30am to 5:30pm EST) to make your Palo reservations (dinner, brunch and/or High Tea). Debbie cannot make spa reservations unless you have also booked the REAS package. You can "request" a dining rotation but are not guaranteed that you will get it. HTH
This is our June 2004 Concierge Experience:
We had the Cat. 2 for our June 19 7-day Western cruise in June 2004. As far as amenities, you do get priority boarding and if you are traveling with any family member who is not in a Cat. 1, 2 or 3, they get to board with you. There is a "meet and greet" with your concierge team during the first afternoon and will make any reservations you desire: Palo, spa, bridge tours, hair braiding, hair wraps, kids clubs, nursery, etc. We found out from our prior cruises that Concierge only receives a select number of reservations. They may not have the date and/or time you desire. We found it easier to book our own reservations. I had planned on not attending the "meet and greet" as I had already spoken with Debbie and made our Palo reservations. Contrary, to what others had posted we have never received a Welcome letter or a phone call from
DCL prior to our cruise. So do not wait for DCL to call you because chances are they wont. Go ahead and call Debbie 407-566-7411 (8:30am to 5:30pm EST) and make your Palo reservations and you can also request a dining rotation. Debbie told me that you are not guaranteed that you will get the requested dining rotation as it is only a request. I did go to the meet and greet to register our youngest ds in the clubs as I thought it would take less time than if I were to go to the club. There were many people waiting, they couldnt decide when to make Palo reservations, what excursions to take, etc. and after a 20 minute wait, I decided to just go up to the clubs and register ds myself. If you go to meet and greet, go early and have a plan in mind! When I got to the kids club, I walked in, picked up the registration papers, filled them out and had him registered in 10 minutes. You are invited to a "concierge only" Sail-away party with complimentary drinks and appetizers. If you are in Cat. 1 or 2 you receive complimentary sodas and bottled water throughout the entire cruise. If you are in a Cat. 3 you will receive a complimentary set up of sodas and water but after that you must pay. You receive a different treat each day: the famous cheese and crackers, chocolate chip cookies, strawberries dipped in chocolate and petit fours, fruit tray, etc. You are able to order room service from any of the four restaurants and are able to order full breakfast (Cat. 4-12 can only order Continental Breakfast) and you can to order the Continental Breakfast on the last morning before debarking. Our Concierge team informed us that Cat. 1 and 2 can order from Palo. Cat. 3, however, cannot. I guess DCL has to draw the line somewhere. There are, after all, 18 Cat. 3 suites so I would imagine that Palo would be in somewhat of a bind if a large number of Cat. 3s were to order on any given night. We also got a couple of sheets of personalized stationery. There is a video player and you are given a list of CDs and videos that are available to watch if you choose. There were many board games in one of the cupboards. This was new as they had never been there on our prior two cruises. Concierge team will stop by daily to inquire whether you need or want anything. You get daily phone messages as well. On this cruise, we received a limited edition lithograph. I can't think of anything else at the moment. The Cat. 2 suite itself is reason enough to book and Concierge is just an added treat. It is spacious. The verandah is awesome. Dining room table seats 6. The added ½ bath is a plus, especially with three boys!
