Concierge Rooms?

We stayed in 12004 on the Fantasy in November and loved the room. The decor is a step up from the the other Cat Vs and gave the room a unique feel. The layout is slightly different as well because of the door that connects to the Walt suite at the entrance. As a result, the closets were moved further into the cabin so the opening by the shower is slightly narrower than in other cabins. The "narrow hallway" was mentioned in some online reviews as a major downside, but the hallway itself is actually exactly the same width. And, although we had a wheelchair, it wasn't a problem at all for us. The sleeping arrangements are also different from other Cat Vs in that the sofa folds out to a double bed with a bunk bed above. The larger bed and tv are wonderful for watching a movie with a bag of popcorn from the lounge. As for the bump-out Cat Vs, that wouldn't make a difference to me as I don't like the narrow verandah's on those. Getting a bump-out for a Cat T would be a far bigger plus (we stayed in 12012 where the larger verandah, shaded from the wind, is absolutely gorgeous). Of all the Cat V's, I'd pick 12004 again in a heartbeat. The only one that might possibly be higher on my list would be 12504, only because it has the view of the fireworks and Castaway Cay. But I'd probably still pick 12004 just because I haven't tried 12504 and would be little uneasy about possible noise from the treadmills in the fitness center below. We didn't notice any noise whatsoever in 12004.

We just stayed concierge a couple weeks ago -- other perks I can think that haven't already been mentioned are (1) your room is ready right when you get on the ship; (2) free alcohol and food at happy hour (4:45 to 5:30, I think?) every day; (3) one exclusive meet-and-greet on the Concierge deck (Goofy for us); (4) shoreside concierge books your excursions for you, earlier than non-concierge can; (5) can board any time (don't need to schedule a boarding time); (6) free continental breakfast every day.

There are actually 2 happy hours: one before each dinner seating.

I'm not sure 6 counts as a perk. Having the food in the lounge was nice, but the food itself was available everywhere else.

The lounge though is a perk in and of itself. I'm counting down the days until I get to enjoy it again.

You should be able to see them from all the rooms on that side. Of course, you aren't supposed to be on the veranda during the show, but...

Only if you get on the ship when the room is ready and they are letting people in.

2 concierge cruises and we haven't had that experience. The first time we took transportation in from the resort that got us into the terminal about half an hour before normal room-ready time. As we got onboard and greeted family who had driven in, they made the announcement that rooms were open. Coincidence. Second time we waited. The lounge will hold your carryons for you while you explore the ship; that's a perk because the rooms are not slated to be ready as soon as you board.

Just to add some anecdotal information because I can only go by what we have experienced on the Fantasy once and the Dream twice. We have always been one of the first families on and our room wasn't ready when we got to the lounge. They stored our carry-ons and the staterooms were ready after a quick lunch at Cabanas.

My daughter stayed in 12504 during our Dec 18th cruise ... definitely a flat screen at the foot of the bed. Nice room & quiet area. Close to the Concierge lounge & right next to the Royal Suite.
If you can change though, I'd recommend 12508, 12510 (or 12008, 12010) ... they are same size rooms, but on the bump & have MUCH bigger verandah!
My first cruise on the dream was scheduled to be in 12510 ... and they bumped me up to 12512 (OOT) ... awesome room with double the space & enormous verandah!

Agree!! If possible, change to one of these rooms with bigger verandah. I booked concierge for the 1st time for our April 2017 cruise and my TA booked us into 12510. After reading stateroom reviews, I understand why....because of the larger verandah.

I've been on the Dream twice, both time in Concierge ... neither time was our room ready when we got to the Concierge Lounge, but both thime it was ready before we finished our first Mimosa .... we didn't mind the wait! LOL

Given the turnaround time between "everyone off" and the first allowed to board, it would be SO hard to manage that promise.

You need to be careful with this statement IMO. As others have stated, the TV's in the Cat V's are .... different than the Dream.

Actually, the Fantasy has flat panels TV's at the foot of all the beds of the cat V's, the Dream does not. Except for the two Cat V's that attach to the Cat R 's cabins, forward , 12004 & 12504, only some Cat V's have big flat panels at the foot of the bed like the Fantasy.

IOW, Only 12004 and 12504 have a large TV at the foot of bed on the Dream.

Now whether that changed during drydock, I am clueless. I welcome input.

Does anyone know if the/all Dream Cat V cabins have large flat panel TV's at the foot of the bed, in addition to the little TV at the desk? Recently, after drydock?

It's plausible. I would expect such improvement. But, then ....

In the past, the Dream cat V's did not have the large TV at the foot of the bed.
Since the Dream was the first built, they learned from mistakes.

They learned, and installed said TVs aboard the Fantasy.

The only question left is if I learned from the rebuild. I think, maybe not, LOL.

We stayed in 12508 on The Dream and loved the verandah so much we have booked it for The Fantasy August 13th. Our excursions were requested at 125 days out and will be loaded onto the system at midnight 120 days, so I'm not worried about not getting anything we've asked for.

The room size isn't the main reason for booking concierge for us. It's about the exceptional level of service provided. Having stayed concierge on land at wdw, Mickey Mouse on land has a lot to learn from his seafaring counterpart

The last 2 cruises were on the Dream Cat.T and we were first on the ship. Our room was ready both times right after the itinerary check in the lounge.

It never hurts to ask Concierge if your brother can disembark with you. Some people will be enraged, but asking doesn't cost anybody anything.

That's a good idea. I know we get priority booking of excursions, and we'll be calling ahead of time to ask about my brother's linking to our excursions if possible....I might ask them about this too.

This was actually on the Dream - first sailing out of dry dock last year.
I have another couple of the room just in case anyone is interested.
