We're taking our kids and grandkids in August and want to make it a really nice trip with 3 separate rooms. Right now we're booked into a standard room at YC although wanted BC but they only had waterview rooms available. I cannot possibly see the extra $700 per week for the view when it will probably be too hot to open the drapes!! We have considered concierge at YC, BC or Poly but I just cannot justify the extra $$$ for 3 rooms and 10 people by reading of the food available. The PS is not a big deal as I can handle that myself. Please talk me into going concierge. We can "swing" the extra dollars but hate to spring for it if it's not really worth it. Children are 4,5,8,9.
Thanks for any help you can be or any ideas as we've never stayed in the Boardwalk area, only POR.

I'm sure that you will get a different answer from other people, but I do not think that Concierge is ever worth it. And I am actually used to such treatment. My DH is Hilton Honors Diamond and we get the Exeutive Level treatment at every Hilton we stay in. Is it nice? Yes. Would I pay extra for it? No way.

Think of it this way ... how much more is it for your whole stay? How many real meals would that cover for 10 people? Also, are you planning any character breakfasts? Well, there goes your "free" breakfast for that day. Will you be back in time for evening snacks? You know, the kids would be just as happy with cereal and milk for breakfast and chips and pop in the room for a snack. I think you should stick with what you have.

It's very subjective.

If you are willing to put a monetary value on, and pay for extra service, then yes, it's worth it. If you are of the "I can take care of it and not pay extra for it" mind, and will only be at the resort to sleep and shower, then probably not.

You get breakfast, daytimes snacks, soda, water, wine and appetizers before dinner and cordials and dessert after. If you wo'nt be at the room enough to partake, then it's probably not worthwhile.

When DH and I travel we almost always stay club or concierge. We enjoy the extra attention, be it locating four safety pins at the last minute or truthfully suggesting a good restaurant and then getting us a hard to get reservation for it, and we're willing to pay for it. We enjoy turndown service, robes in the room, that sort of thing.

At WDW we tend to return to the room to dress for dinner every evening. During that time we'll stop by the lounge and hav some wine and appetizers. After dinner we're often back to the resort in time for cordials and dessert.

The concierge can be very helpful with the special needs of children. The lounge provides a place for children to play quietly on a rainy afternoon. They can also arange for "gifts" for your children (Lizzie64 has a lot of info on this).

Basically no one can decide if it's right for you or not. And again, a lot of what you're paying for is an upgrade in service--it's not a tangible commodity.
