Is concierge worth it on the classic ships? I know on the new ships they have a concierge lounge. What perks are there on the classic ship?

We used concierge on the Magic last Oct - Nov. It was worth it to us for the quick and easy boarding, first folks on just after the "family of the day", the use of shore concierge to make reservations at 125 days out (cabana all but a done deal), and the early release of the rooms. We used our host to make and change plans and she handles any problems.

The roomy cabins are very nice, the large verandas luxurious and the proximity to the upper decks very useful.

Now this is a veranda!

we were concierge on the wonder last week and they have added a few new perks
free coffee drinks at cove cafe
and 2 cocktail hours each day in outlook cafe 5pm-6pm and 730-830.

overall the experience was really great!

Yes we had the free coffee at Cove Cafe on the Magic in the summer of 2014, it was good considering they do not have the concierge lounge.

Oops! Didn't finish!

What I was going to say was January 2014 & loved it.
The staff really went above & beyond what we expected, including gifting our DDs Merida dolls from the shops. We loved the lithograph we rec'd at the end of the cruise as well.
Saving up to do it again!

From the feedback from cruisers, like us who had been on the newer ships as well and been in the Concierge lounge there they have really tried to up the service and benefits to try to match it on the classics.

We have sailed concierge a number of times and noticed a big step change in summer 2014, I hadn't seen the perks posted here, so didn't know if it was "personal" service or a vast improvement in service.

I had the free Cove cafe drinks card, looks like its now general and they look at your gold card, then it was a signed card given by concierge.

I had other perks still not posted here and I am not going to post those unless others do, I do not want to give too many spoilers or set people up that they expect this or that. As soon as its posted here then its expected as part of the service and not all ships and not all length of cruises, may get that level of attention.

All I advise is speak to your host regularly about any issue you have and they will find solutions. Do not ask for a specific thing as they might charge you for that, but if its a gift/surprise then its part of the service.

You're kidding me. We had the 2 bed suite in October on the Magic and there was definitely NO free coffee for us.

I think it varies from person to person. In November on Magic - no free coffee, or happy hours. DD did get Merida doll and arcade cards, popcorn with movies.

Nope no kidding and I didn't post that just in case this occurred, now my cruise was 12 nights, I had a conversation with the concierge about the quality of the coffee compared with RCL and then iI got a ticket signed saying free coffee at cove cafe, now whilst I didn't write about it here the eagle eyed readers of my cruise blog at that time would have seen the photo of it.

Our concierge was very good to us, there's more but not posting it unless others do as then someone will feel they missed out. I think it's down to the discretion of the concierge hosts and maybe as we were on a long cruise. And maybe as we had been on the Fantasy before so liked the CL there.

Finally the concierge, myself and Karl Holz had a couple of conversations and I do not know if he indicated to do something's for me, he is a nice guy and maybe he said, " make it so"

Personally, I wouldn't book concierge on a classic ship. We really liked the concierge lounge on the Dream and the private sun deck and character meet. It's nice if they added coffee and the happy hours. I definitely enjoyed the happy hour on the Dream and the snacks in the lounge. But the other amenities of concierge just aren't enough for us to spend the extra money. To each their own though.

Yes/No

I have been on the Fantasy for 14 nights and yes Concierge lounge was good and the small price difference to a classic, isn't justified.

However I was on the Magic 12 nights in Concierge in the summer (2014) and have a further 12 this summer.

Embarkation meet just as good as the Fantasy, in a bar.

Planning just as good.

Extra booking say 2nd Palo brunch, just as good.

Character Meet and concierge party just as good.

The concierge calling on you, at your room and at dinner was good.

Daily gifts of food. Not as good as food in the CL but nice.

Extra gifts 48 bottles of Evian on embarkation helped.

Soda cans in room and at concierge meet.

Priority disembarkation and tendering.

So with added happy hours before meals and drinks at Cove Cafe or Outlook bar its getting closer.
