Does anyone have experience w/ concirege level rooms?
Do you get the same at each Concierge Level room at different hotels?
I was wondering if you had a choice, where would you stay?

I am thinking of Poly, AKL, Yacht Club or GF.

Thanks for ny input.

I know a lot of people don't think that GF Concierge is worth it, but I do. I have stayed there three times over the years and have enjoyed it every time. I have also stayed at the Poly, CR, BW, and YC. All were very good experiences but the Gf stands out in my mind (main Bldg {RPC}). It really is an awful lot of money to stay that way but I always pay off my trip ahead of time little by little, starting almost a year in advance. This makes it easier for me to justify the price I guess.

All concierge levels offer the same IPO service as far as pre-arrival planning, arranging for in-room gifts and so forth. However, the offerings in the lounges may differ from resort to resort. CR & GF both have a separate concierge level which they call "light" concierge that do not offer evening drinks/dessert service.

As far as favorites mine is AKL :lovestruc , but I think I'm REALLY going to like BWI just as much. The atmosphere at AKL was right up my alley. The CMs and the folks in IPO were just so friendly and attentive. I was completely won over by just one trip. :goodvibes

Are you looking at concierge to celebrate a special occasion? That might help in giving you suggestions for which concierge to pick. :teeth:

VAgal has it exactly right. You will receive the same basic concierge services at all the Disney deluxe resorts. They all come with pre-planning assistance, on site CM's, private check-in, automatic turn down service, concierge lounges, package delivery to your room, etc.

Now, aside from those, there are some subtle differences at each resort you mentioned.

Yacht Club ~ finest pre-planning staff you'll ever work with, concierge lounge is small and closes between food offerings and at night

AKL ~ special features like sunrise & sunset safari available exclusively for their concierge guests.

Poly ~ beautiful lounge with great MK views

GF ~ more extensive food offerings in the lounge, extra serving from 2-4pm consists of afternoon tea with scones, trifle & cookies. The GF also offers an option of "light" concierge in the SugarLoaf building. Same basic services, but the absence of wine/beer and the 8-10pm desserts/cordial offering. Smaller lounge in SugarLoaf also.

I've stayed concierge at both the YC and GF. As you can probably tell from my trip history, I'm partial to the GF.

Only have 1st-hand experience with one -- the Poly. concierge, which we came back from last week.

For us, this was just about as good as we could ever imagine it getting!!! Loved the atmosphere, loved the convenience, loved the view, loved the service and offerings, loved the Poly. from top to bottom.

I'm planning a concierge trip for this august. I was torn between Polynesian and AKL, but now I think GF has made the list.

Does GF have beer also? What kind of beer do the Poly and GF serve in the lounge?

Are both lounges open all day? (i have a toddler who'll be napping and everyone else will get sent to the lounge :) )

What kind of food is served in the evening at GF?

PolyHereWeCome--Do you remember is they still had Sushi at Poly and what night it was offered??

Jenny,

I'm sorry I can't help with the beer, I'm a wine drinker myself so I never really looked.

Both lounges are open all the time. The Poly and GF main building have very nice lounges. The GF's SugarLoaf lounge is smaller and has less seating available. I'm pretty sure they still don't have a TV in the lodge either.

The 5-7pm GF serving consisted of cheese & crackers, vegetables, 2 hot appetizer type dishes and the kids had a little set up of mini hot dogs and cupcakes. Nothing to make a full meal out of, but a nice snack.

Beer: My DH enjoyed the wines, beer, and cordials many of the evenings. He was pleased with the beer. Sorry, I'm not much of a drinker -- all I can tell you is that it was in a bottle and he liked it.

Being able to use the lounge while your toddler is sleeping is perfect! DH or I often enjoyed the lounge in the AM or PM while the others were sleeping. It's always open and there's newspapers, board games (we never used, but did see others enjoying them upstairs), TV, tons of seats, and great view! The only time it seemed active with people was 7-8 AM and 5-6 PM, and even then, it was fine.

We were around for the 5-7 PM "lite dinner" offerings about 1/2 the time, and each time our whole family (DH, DD7, DS7 and I) enjoyed and were content. We were also interested in sushi night, but that was not the offering on any of the evenings we were there. So just can't say if/when they did sushi. We especially enjoyed the BBQ chicken and pulled pork nights.

FYI, our concierge list was similar to yours - AKL, GF, and Poly. From what I've read, you'll do well with any of them. :wizard:

Sorry to piggy back on your thread but can someone tell me about both 12 & 14 floor concierge at CR? I am thinking about surprising my DH for 2 nights the end of Sept. before we check into BWV. 175 days to go! :Pinkbounc

We were at BC for nine days at Easter. We have stayed at concierge three times. This time the pickings where few. At breakfeast they ran out of food before 9am , at 12 it was nuts , popcorn and cookies. 5 to 7 some cheeses ,
crackers , one or two dips , small dish of fish , ribs or pasta. Now they have added soup. 8 to 10 it was cookies , cream puffs on most nights. Coffee was cold most of the time. They got rid of english muffins at breakfeast , Veg trays , chips and salsa at noon. Mack'n cheese for kids at 5 to 7. Also Assorted pastry , brownies, blondies , flan and cheese cake at 8-10 are gone. For what you pay for concierge they have cut back to the point that we are going to stay at reg. deluxe room. We still go for diner so $140+ a day for donuts at breakfeast and nuts at lunch is not worth the price. We are trying the Portifino Hotel concierge on our next trip in August.

We've stayed CL at WL, Poly and BWI. Poly had the best food offerings at night. I liked breakfast at BWI better. Staff at all were great but BWI went out of their way during our engagement and wedding trips.

Hi,

I was reading this thread and was curious if any of the concierge hotels other than AKL offer something special like the AM and PM safari rides? This sounds like such a fun perk, but I wasn't sure if other hotels did anything like this too? Thanks for any help :flower:

I thought I read somewhere that the sunrise safari is now open to all concierge level guests. I could be wrong. I can't seem to find where I read that but maybe someone out there can help me with confirming this info!

I know that there's a special "safari" that all concierge guests at any WDW resort can take at AKL now but it's not the breakfast or dinner one. I don't remember what it's called though. YC told me about it.

I love the YC CL because even though it's smaller I like the decor (just more my style) and I didn't like the Poly very much. Guess I'm not too much of a south seas kind of girl. LOL! I also think YC/BC/BWI pre-planning staff is the best Disney has to offer. I love working with them. I'm returning to YC again in 2006 but am also trying out AKL CL. Looking forward to that, I've heard so many good things about AKL.

Of the ones you mentioned, we liked Poly CL the BEST! At YC they did run out of food early every setting,, and the ones thing that really sticks in my mind was that all the cold dishes were always luke warm and all the warm dishes were always COLD! Also, the CM's acted like it was a hugh deal to get you something to drink. Poly was a totally different experience and well worth it!

( We also love WL CL, but it wasn't on your list)

MinnieM3: That's so funny because I've never experienced anything like that at YC in all the times I've been there. The Poly was a total disappointment to me. The lounge was dirty and food was scattered everywhere and I hardly ever even saw any CM's there. This is a good case for it really depends on when you go and what particular experience you have at that time.

That's exactly true! The CM;s we had at YC probably aren't even there anymore! Ya never know! Sometimes you get lucky!
