Hi everyone! I'm sorry if this has been covered before but I haven't been able to find anything. My mom and brother and I rented points from a DVC member for a split stay at AKV/BWV for Jan. 2-9. We have savannah view for AKL and standard view for BWV. I would like to surprise my family by upgrading us to Concierge Level - is there any way to call Disney and pay using money, not points, to do this? Is there a rough estimate on how much it might cost? Or would it even be possible to just request this at check-in and pay with my credit card then?

If not, does anyone have any good suggestions for other nice surprises for my mom and brother while we are there? She is 45, he is 11, and I'm 20... we like everything!

Thanks so much
Julia

No, you cannot pay to upgrade to concierge.

The only way to get concierge access when staying on DVC points is to book a concierge accommodation. At AKV they are in very short supply--only about 1% of all DVC villas.

Concierge accommodations are not available for points bookings at the BoardWalk.

I don't have any suggestions for your brother, as special 11 yo boy activities aren't Disney's strong suit. For your Mom, maybe a nice spa appointment or treat her to a manicure/pedicure or hairdo at one of the salons.

The Seas Aqua tour, where you do something like snorkeling (it's just a bit different than snorkeling, and you don't need a diving certificate to do it) in the Living Seas is a very nice behinds the scenes tour. Your brother may like that.

maybe consider the afternoon (or "wanyama") safari around the resort savanna if you're up for spending $180 per person... that includes a family-style dinner at jiko afterwards.

AKL DVC concierge level needs to be booked at exactly 11 months out - at 9:00AM Eastern Time.

No such thing as an upgrade in this case. Cash cannot be combined with points for any nights.

If you send mom to the spa...consider taking the 11 yo boy to the World of Disney (downtown disney area). It's a huge arcade. He'll love it!!

Another idea...do the morning safari at the AKL. You get the see the animals up close and personal.

The boardwalk area at the BW resort can be really fun in the evenings...especially if you add a huge ice cream sundae to the mix!

Miniature golfing can be a nice family thing to do as well. Add a prize for the winner and you'll have a great game.

Disney tours are always awesome. Just do a search for "tours" on the DIS website, click on the first link and take a look at all the available tours. (I've done the Keys to the Kingdom tour, Behind the Seeds tour, and the Steam Train tour...loved them all)

Enjoy

I think you mean DisneyQuest. The World of Disney is a store.
