Concierge - How good are they?

I inquired to the Contemporary Concierge (we are staying 12/3-12/10) about a Wishes birthday/fireworks cruise on Friday, 12/9. Well, they told me one was available and then about a day after I replied back they said someone "snatched it up".

My question is, I have read on these boards that the Concierge staff can get you in to just about anything except CRT. Do you have any idea of what my chances will be to get this cruise? It is to celebrate my son's 4th birthday.

The concierge staff has always been able to get us EVERYTHING we wanted, including CRT several times (whenever we have requested it)

I think you have a great chance at getting that cruise. Can't you just give them your cc # and have them "snatch it up" for YOU when it becomes available? At least they will have a jump on it if they have your info.

Because there are only a limited number of pontoon boats, this might be more difficult for them to get. I'd suggest giving them your credit number to have on file and ask that they check periodically for cancellations. Perhaps you can give them a range of dates to look into if you can be flexible and also have them check on the Illuminations cruise availability.

If you're interested in sharing a boat, over on the Theme Park forum, I think they have a thread for DIS'ers looking to do just that.

Just have a back up plan, but we have been very lucky as well.

Those cruises are a little harder to come by I will have to agree.

We stayed POLY concierge last October and wanted an Illuminations cruise. I didn't find out about these until less than 30 days before our trip. I called and spoke to a concierge CM and there were none available. However, she told me that they would check on a daily basis for cancellations. Less than a week before our arrival they were able to get us one!!!! It was great and we wouldn't have gotten it without their help! Good luck!

Does anyone know where these types of outings are listed, what is included and the price range? I don't want to but the IPO staff but I haven't been able to find much....

The Wishes Fireworks pontoon boats leave from each of the marinas on the Seven Seas Lagoon and Bay Lake - make sure they check all of the resorts, not just the one leaving from the Contemporary.

The driver will drop you off at the Contemporary at the end of the cruise, if you ask nicely.

Are your dates flexible at all?

I think we would like the Wishes better....but would feel very bad taking up a whole boat for only 3 people in our party...wish there was a way to "share" with another party!

actually they have combined all of the boat inventory to just two resorts. The Grand and the Wilderness Lodge.

I was quite impressed with the Poly concierge but extremely disappointed with the Contemporary concierge.

I wanted a CRT with DD for lunch and gave them a window of 5 days.
I had called myself that day(60 days out) but had no luck.,,even though I called at 7:00 am

well, next day called concierge, told them I wanted either lunch or dinner. gave them a choice of 5 days.

no luck

I had to call back every week to see if anything became available.
I was treated like second class citizen.
like tough luck were not checking again.

so I just continued to call myself up to and including the day we left for wdw

I gave up and whole family went to whispering canyon which we really enjoyed.
CR concierge never even asked us if they wanted to make PS for us where as poly concierge just fawned over you the whole time
