I read in a post that people in the suites get to pick their dining rotation. Is that true?
If so what do they do, call you a few weeks before to ask?

About 1 month b4 your sail date you will get a letter from the concierge dept.. That letter will give you a special phone # to call//You can then ask for whatever dining rotation you want, you may also make any Palo reservations, and if you want a table for just your party, you can take care of that as well. They were very helpful when I called.
When do you sail and what catg??

Wow, I hadn't heard this... Cool!

I hope this is true - we are in cat. 3 in a couple of months and one thing we want is a private table. We'd also like to request the PLAPLAP rotation. I didn't know we'd be able to do this... Awesome!

interesting ....we were in cat. 3 and didn't receive a letter...
however we called on our own and asked for a private table and got one...

the other thing concierge gets is the right to order room service from the full menus of all the dining rooms (i.e., if you want something from tritons/lumieres from room service you can order it....the menus are in your stateroom)....

Beano,

I am going cat 3 on 8/24. I used the concierge service for exactly that...We want a private table,( 1 DGD is only 1 yr) and asked for the APL rotation. We were told no problem on both requests..

Was also told in letter and when I spoke to concierge dept that there is a special check in line for concierge guests..They are the first on ship after handicapp people..

I have stayed in a Cat. 3 twice and have never received a letter in advance, that definitely seems to be a hit and miss thing. I don't know if they are pre-booking Palo or letting you choose dining rotations anymore, but you can definitely book Palo, spa appointments and everythinge else at the concierge meeting the first afternoon you board. The only thing you would want to do in advance is book shore excursions as some of those do book up and they do not save space for concierge guests.

Enjoy your cruise! :)

yes, concierge boards right after handicapped...
after you check in at the terminal head over to the area by the window that looks out on the ship (next to the little coffee shop)...
that's where the concierge guests form their own line for boarding....

I had heard about the boarding procedure for concierge, which is nice too. With that in mind, I guess there's no real reason to try and get to the port extra early to get in line. It takes, what - 15 minutes to check in, plus whatever time you spend in line... boarding starts at about 12:30. Might as well sleep in and get to the port around 11:45!!! Or am I missing something?

If I wait until the concierge meeting, will I still be able to get my private table, or should I plan to call them ahead of time?

Thanks,

why wait?
if a private table is important to you (as it was for us) call DCL directly and ask for a private table....

as for what time to get there...
it was recommended to us on the boards to get there by 10:30, which is exactly when we got there (as did Barb and Tony who were right ahead of us in line for check in)...
i thought it was the perfect time to get there...
no line to drive into the port...
no line to get your bags taken from the car....no line to park the car...
no line to check in...
and still a few spaces on the sofas by the window...
the hour that we waited for boarding was easily passed chit-chatting with Barb, Tony, Katie and her husband, and a family from chicago whose name escapes me...
the hour zipped by very pleasantly ...

and then onto the ship....what fun...
i wish we were on the ship today only an hour from sailing...

Beano, if you want a private table you can have that added to your reservation now, anyone can request a specific table size in advance. :) However, if you are two adults traveling alone they may not be able to accommodate you; there are no tables for two.

I agree about getting to the port a little earlier than you plan; often they start boarding by 12:15 and you would want to be there by 11:30 or so to check in.

Have fun! :)
