Thanks for posting this sounds like fun. Is it just for AKL CL guests?

Actually, after I posted I started thinking about it, and it doesn't sound like it. I don't see anything in there that indicates it's for CL guests only. Sorry for any confusion!!

You're welcome. I notice you're staying at BC. I'm not sure if you know, but daybeds are not guaranteed at BC. Be sure you request one, and when you check in, politely ask if your request was met...and if not, could they move you to a room with a daybed. They will give you a rollaway cot if you don't get a daybed, but, I'd much prefer the daybed.

Online check in is available to me now, and I took a look at it. It doesn't allow you to request a daybed, so I called in and asked. They said that parties of 5 are given preference for a daybed, and generally you get one. They've changed which rooms you can reserve at the BC. Parties of 5 can no longer request Lagoon or Garden view on the club level. Most standard rooms do have the daybed, but not the other two categories. I believe this was changed for 2013, because in the past all views were bookable for parties of 5.

Sunrise Safari is AKL CL only; Wanyama (Sunset) Safari and Night Vision Safari are any AKL guests, not just CL.

We did all three of them in April. The Night Vision was pretty new - I think it started last fall - so I didn't have much info before we signed up for it. It was fun, though. You go to two savannas in a jeep - you ride along the edge of the smaller Kidani savanna (Pembe?), and then enter and ride through the Sunset Savanna. The animals can come right up close to you on the Sunset Savanna - we were about 2 inches from a giraffe at one point. You also get some Night Vision Safari-only souveniers, like a glow in the dark pin (same conservation fund pin as the other tours, but this one glows) and a glow in the dark bracelet.

I've been meaning to write a review comparing all 3, but haven't gotten off my lazy butt to do it yet. ;) Hopefully I'll have a chance soon.

Thinking about staying at poly CL. What food do they have for kids in the lounge? My 4yo will eat anything but my 5yo is extremely picky.

LOL, please do!! I would be so interested. We are signed up for the Sunrise Safari and I cannot wait. :)

Hi,

We just got back and it was wonderful! They have kid friendly cereals and you can ask for chocolate milk. Bagels and fruit are out as well. snacks in the afternoon are chocolate chip cookies, goldfish or chex type mix with gummies. For dinner they offered mini corn dogs for the kids and I remember seeing uncrustables too. Two nights we were there they had meatballs.

Hope this helps!

DH & I have a Sunrise Safari reservation for November. Wondering if this is our best option. Which did you prefer? Not a complete review but maybe a 1st 2nd 3rd ranking?

I would LOVE to get up close to some animals but also want LOTS of pictures of animals.

Thanks

Ahhh...no worries. I'll remove it from the first page, and email AKL IPO to find out exactly what is available to CL guests.

Sounds reasonable. When you check in, I'd politely ask if your request for a daybed was met. If the answer is no, then perhaps you could politely ask if you could get a room with a daybed, and say you're willing to wait until 3 for it. This is of course assuming you're actually willing to wait. For me, it depends on the trip. Sometimes I'll take the first room they give me, and sometimes, I'm willing to hold out for something I really want (daybed, view etc.)

Thanks for the info!
So, someone correct me, because I may have my info wrong. The only safari that is CL exclusive is the Sunrise Safari and it is ONLY for AKL-CL guests. Is this correct? For some reason, I thought that CL guests at other resorts could book it.

Yes. I'm a picky eater, and always find great things in the CL lounge. The only time it gets a little tough is during the 5-7 apps/wine/beer, but there are usually PB&J rollups, apples and caramel dip, and some sort of chicken finger/skewer.

Thanks for replying! That sounds perfect!!!

Question: When you have 5 people in a room and you have a daybed, do they make up that bed with sheets and blankets for you when they do the evening turndown service?

We have had varying results with this. I don't believe the evening turndown folks know how many people are staying in the room. So we started a little habit of our own to mess up the daybed and try to make it look like someone would be sleeping there on our first day so they will turn it down that first night. Typically once they turn it down the first night they will continue to turn it down the rest of the stay. It helps because our son has stuffed animals which make it look more used. Also, if you happen to be around your room for the 5:00-7:00 PM appetizers you might be able to track down the turndown person in the flesh and tell them that someone will be using the daybed that night and to please turn it down, but we've only had about a 50/50 result with that working. :lmao: Those daybeds are a pain in the you know what to try and turn down yourself, plus we typically request an extra blanket too (the daybeds are always in direct flow of the A/C vent).

Great idea! Thank you, I'll definitely try this out.

I have never had much luck with leaving notes. The daily mousekeepers always take the cash I leave under their small blue signature card in the bathroom, but the turndown people at night are different and seen to all have a different way of doing turndown. Usually they only do the beds, and check for dirty dishes and towels. If you do leave a note I would make it very large, like an entire 8 1/2 x 11 inch printer page, and in a very large font so you catch their eye. :thumbsup2

We are going to be at YC CL, we're only going for 3 days. the 1st day is the MNSSHP. I know we can get in at 4pm. Its the only day we're doing MK. We're going to try and check in as early as we can, maybe around 12-1pm?? Would you head to MK at 4pm for the party or would hang out til 5 and get a bite in the Club Lounge and then head to MK??

I would grab lounge snacks first! :thumbsup2 We've done the party many times, there really is no reason to get there at 4:00 unless you just want to people watch and walk around.

We've experienced a room with no daybed for our party of 5 at the BC in a standard view CL room. They brought us a roll-away. We were about halfway down the hall from the lounge. The next day we moved to a room with a daybed because we felt the roll-away took up too much floor space that we needed for luggage.

This is what I am afraid of happening. I know we definitely want a daybed and not a roll away because they just take up too much room. I was going to do online check in but I guess if I cant specifically request a daybed on it then there is no point. Just curious, did you have a request for a daybed and they didnt give it to you at check in, or did you not have any request at all?

We just stayed CL at BC for the first time as a party of 6 (two infants). We didn't get a daybed either and instead got a rollaway. It was kind of a pain as we already had 2 pack and plays for my twins, but we managed. When I brought it up to concierge they tried to move us first, but they checked for the first 3 days of our stay and nothing else was available.

The rollaway does stand up like a murphy bed so you can get it out of the way during the day. It didnt' work for us because our twins would have happily tried climbing it all day if we tried to stand it up and it wouldn't have been safe. But it didn't take up much room that way.

We did not request a daybed as we were under the impression with large parties we would be assigned them first. But we did request full balcony and got that.

I know this sounds really petty but I dont want to walk into our room and see a rollaway tucked in the corner. I want it to look as pretty as the pictures in the BC thread
Plus there are 5 of us, and my kids are 9, 12, and 15 so the less stuff we have and more seating in the room the better. OF course the idea of a full balcony is nice too. Maybe I'll just see what we get and go from there.

I believe I looked this up when I did my Poly CL stay last year but can someone please confirm, doing YC CL in Sept, are you able to use the Club Level lounge after check out on your last day? What is the latest you can check out? We are trying to do a 9pm flight. Figure ME will pick us up around 6pm. Would like to check our bags and hang out at SAB and possibly use the Lounge a bit that day. Is that possible? Thanks!

You can use the lounge until midnight of your check out day (if it's open that late, LOL). :)
