Our welcome gift was different at Atrium CL this time. The box is the same size and set up as the Poly CL gift I received in April/May.

Is the contemporary picture also a big piece of chocolate? Looks cool.

That is the same thing we got at the BWI in September. I think it is very sad that there really aren't many differences between the resorts now. :sad2: It started years ago when the pool bars and lounges started serving the same drinks, then generic bedding and now the same CL welcome gift. Maybe they are trying to stop the split stays by making all the resorts the same. :rotfl2::confused3

psac, Yes the picture is chocolate.

Hi mickeynut.

So my nerves got the best of me. I emailed the BWI CL desk this morning asking about the upcoming refurbishment and if it will effect our stay 4/26-5/5. I asked about the offerings in the lounge and a sample pool activity schedule too. Here is the response I received (rather quickly):

Thank You for your email. What I found out about the rehab is that it won't be starting until 5/12 thru 6/17. They have not let anyone book for those days so their is no inconvenience. So you are fine. The Lounge starts to serve their Continental Breakfast from 7:00am to 10:30am which is whole fruits, cut up fruit, cereals, milk, juices ,water and soft drinks, coffee and tea. it varies every day on different breads, muffins, crisonts, and their are also hard boiled eggs, oatmeal and yogurt. They close for an hour for clean up and reset up for lunch snacks which varies from day to day sometimes yogurt covered pretzels, chips & dips, swedish fish & trail mix. They close at 4:00pm and reopen at 5:00pm for veggie trays, dips and hummis, breads and cheese & fruit trays, also something that may be from either Kouzzina'a or the Flying Fish. They also put out the beer & wine. They closes this at 7:00pm and reopen at 8:00pm until 10:00pm with the delights and something if you want to have a night cap. Of course this is all subject to change. It may be something different by the end of April; But it gives you an Idea of what to expect. I have attached the activity schedule for Jan. Please let us know how we may assist you further. Thank You
Terri

I'm glad you got a response and the refurb won't effect your trip :). I was wondering what was going on at BWI as I tried pricing out a 4 night stay at the end of May/beginning of June and wasn't finding any availability. Thanks for posting this information :goodvibes.

Hi mickeynut.

Agree! The welcome gift for AKL CL was the same except the top piece of chocolate had a picture of the AKL resort.

I think it's just cheaper...honestly...when you can order in bulk for 1 hotel versus ordering in bulk for 10 hotels the price per unit goes down dramatically. The sad thing is having more uniqueness between the resorts is nicer for the customer and they still make millions. But hey, why make $5 million in profits when you can make $8 million?

We received different welcome gifts from WL CL and YC CL, so they are not completely all the same. :goodvibes

That's really good to know actually! We may be staying at YC CL next...although it probably won't be for another year or two so hopefully it will still be something unique :)

Just an FYI for those reading this thread -- not all resorts always give a "welcome gift". Haven't gotten 1@ YC in years & didn't receive 1 @ BC this week either. Just don't want anyone disappointed.

Maybe they forgot??? We got one at YC in April. :confused3

We were at YC CL last August and did not receive a welcome gift. It's nice to get one, because I have received them in the past, but it's ok not getting it either. I didn't miss it.

Hi all,

We just booked a last-minute trip for next weekend at AKL CL. We've stayed CL at CR, YC and the Poly and have liked them all (especially CR) and we're really looking forward to trying something new. I've been combing this thread for info about AKL and had a few questions that I hope you all can answer:

1. Is it true you can get mimosas in the lounge? Do you have to ask for them, or are they out?

2. I saw a few people mention activities for kids in the lounge -- I've never seen that at the other lounges. Was I reading correctly? And does anyone know if the activities are still offered? At what times of day?

3. I saw that the CL rooms are on a different level from the lounge. That's my biggest worry right now about AKL since we use the lounge a lot as a place to go while my youngest naps. How inconvenient is this? How long does it take, generally, to get up to the lounge?

Thanks in advance!

The lounge is on the 6th floor and the CL rooms are on the 4th. Not convenient at all. The elevator from the 4th floor does not go to the 6th floor. We were told to go down to the lobby and take the lobby elevator up to the 6th floor. We did find other ways to get there but not as easy or direct as going to the lobby, as crazy as that may seem. It is very easy to get lost...or maybe I am just directionally challenged. :rotfl2:

We did get a different CL welcome gift at the YC in May, and January at the BWI but in September the BWI one was the same as the CR...with a picture of the BWI instead of the CR. I think the only resort we do not regularly get welcome gifts is the GF. :confused3

loveshak22 I think you are correct, they can save money by buying the same thing for all resorts. Sadly just another cut back. :sad2: The resorts are all starting to look the same.:sad2:

 Seriously? That's....unfortunate. Actually enough to make me rethink the trip at all. I have less than no desire to haul 3 kids on 4 elevators round-trip multiple times a day.

Why on earth would tptb at Disney think it's ok to put its Club-level guests on a floor with no access to the CL amenities?

We just booked Beach Club for Club level for 5. They said they can't guarantee a day bed. How can they have 5 in a room with out having a daybed? Are the daybeds comfortable?

Are the club level rooms on the same floor as the lounge?

What is the club level like...Is it crowded? Does it have a view of the fireworks? And is there a balcony outside to watch the fireworks?

Any info is appreciated!

Thanks!!!

AKL has 2 sets of elevators, one that goes to the lobby, one that lets out near the Mara/game room area. The one by Mara doesn't go up to 6 but the set that goes down to the lobby goes up to 6. You don't have to go down to go up you just have to use the correct set of elevators and go up!

You have to ask for the mimosas but they always have them I think. They were awesome!

The kids area of the lounge has a big tv for kids, two smaller TVs with wii consoles and an area where they set out kid-friendly snacks. It's as far from the adult food area as possible.

The CL rooms used to be on the 5th floor with a staircase going up to the lounge, very convenient. They are now the DVC CL rooms. You could try to book one of those, I do not think many of them have savannah views though. All the CL rooms on the 4th floor are savannah view. You do not have to take an elevator to get to the lobby, there is a ramp going down to the lobby, you will have to go all the way across the lobby to get to the elevators that take you to the 6th floor. I only stayed there once and our room was very close to the ramp, so it wasn't too bad, but still not very convenient. IMO AKL CL is the only resort that even comes close to the GF as far as the food offerings are concerned, of course that may have changed since I've stayed there.

I agree. It seems like Disney is doing away with a lot of Disney touches, but raising the prices :sad2:. I also agree about the resorts all starting to look alike. Refurbs are good, but too many Disney touches are being taken away (IMO), which is making the resorts more generic-looking :(.

Unfortunately a daybed cannot be guaranteed at the BC as not all rooms come with one. Families of 5 are given preference for those rooms, but if one isn't available when you arrive, you won't get it. If that is the case, they will provide you with a rollaway. I can't comment on the comfort of the daybed as during our BC stay, our room didn't have one. All regular CL rooms are on the same floor as the lounge. There are deluxe rooms that have CL access, but are located on other floors. I can't give any opinion of what CL is like at the BC as we've never stayed CL there, but hopefully someone else will be able to give you some insight :).

IMO AKL CL is the only resort that even comes close to the GF as far as the food offerings are concerned, of course that may have changed since I've stayed there.

This is good to hear as we are hoping to try AKL CL later this year. We've stayed WL CL and just loved it and although GF RPC is my favorite, I rank WL CL right up there next to RPC :goodvibes.
