Quick question about the YC lounge- are the cans of soda in a fridge or out in a "ice bucket"? My only complaint about the BWI CL lounge was that ice bucket. Seemed like I was always grabbing the semi warm can of soda! :rotfl:

Thanks!

Do you plan on booking a room or suite? Hawaii is all rooms and Tonga is all suites. The suites are very expensive and rarely (never?) offer discounts. I've only ever stayed Hawaii.

I booked a 2 Bedroom Princess suite. But I was thinking of doing 2 rooms in Hawaii. It seems Tonga's lounge would be more intimate, but if there are better offerings for the kids in Hawaii, they might enjoy that more. We stayed in a AK suite last year and it was pretty roomy. So it might be better to have the space. About how long is the walk from Tonga to Hawaii?

There are bunk bed CL rooms but it is only a request you can not book that category. I was in one once. It was nice to have the extra floor space. I was there with just me & DD. I had not requested it because I thought some kids might really want it so they wouldn't have to share with a sibling but my DD really loved it.

Are there no CL rooms for your dates or just no discounted CL rooms for your dates? It can be difficult to book AKL CL rooms at a discount.

Thanks for the reply. :)
To clarify there are no discount CL rooms at AKL. I just checked and there are still regular price CL rooms but that is quite a hefty jump in price. Hmm, I wonder what the odds would be of getting the bunk bed CL room. The bunk beds are very important to my little guy.

Do all the lounges offer brewed coffee as well as the Nescafe machines??

Thanks :)

Nope, it is full on Nescrape` all day. AKL used to have a fancy schmancy and extremely expensive brewing beast--probably still do--but I don't recall what brand is brewed?

Not too long of a walk but you have walk around the pool. Tikiman's site says Tonga to pool is 1 minute and I know Hawaii to pool is about 15 seconds so it shouldn't be much of a walk.

I've never been to Tonga so can't say what the lounge or offerings are like there but I was under the impression that the food was the same. The lounge in Hawaii does get crowded at times.

Thank you!!So far it's looking like I should stay put!

The Atrium Club and Tower Club lounges from the Contemporary don't have a Nescafe machine, instead they have this one which uses pods to make Cappuccino that you insert in and it grinds them up.

However the Boardwalk Inn and Polynesian Club Level lounges have the Nescafe machine and here is a picture of the one from the Boardwalk Inn.

The main building lounge at GF also has a nicer machine. It was installed in Oct. 2010 while we were there. I believe they may be upgrading several of the resorts as I know there have been many complaints.

YC has a fridge for soda. It's a small one just inside the door that always stays open. I believe they even put beer in the fridge during the evening hours.

For those of you that have stayed Poly CL, if given the choice, which would you prefer the Tonga or Hawaii Building? I am traveling with small kids, so location is the key. And if I have to walk to Hawaii for desserts, evening offerings, well IDK. I've never stayed in either. My trip isn't until May 2012 so any insight is appreciated, I am also going through the Poly threads, but Tonga reviews are limited. TIA

Hi,

We have stayed at the Poly CL in 2009 and 2010 and loved it. In 2009, we had family over at the Tonga building and frequently were allowed to visit them and the lounge there. We have two little ones and the Hawaii building is great and better located. It isn't a long walk to the Tonga building at all. The Hawaii building has muffins, bagels and pastries in the morning and Tonga has coffee machine, tea and cereal. The rest of the day, Tonga just has out in the lobby those big cupcakes, bags of chips and pretzels and some soda. There isn't water or anything else out during the day. I would choose Hawaii for more options instead of walking over to the Hawaii building every day.

Enjoy.

CL is open until 10pm normally, they try and keep fridge stocked with sodas. No plastic bottles of water but they do have big glass bottles of Evian and you can ask for one to put in your room fridge.

We didnt need mugs..

Thank you very much! :thumbsup2

We're trying to decide between the 2 resorts, decided to splurge this trip and book a club room.
-Poly...One site states no balcony on 2nd floor, but another site shows photos with balconies? No king beds? Only 2 queens?(Bummer)...just me and DH.
-Which has better dinner offerings?
-I really like both resorts, and both locations. We are basing our decision on the better all around Club offerings.

Thanks so much

There are no balconies on they 2nd floor at Poly. They have sliders but it is just like a big window-no balcony to stand/sit on like on the 3rd floor.

I've never been to YC CL. I have to say they last time I was at Poly CL I was disappointed in their breakfast offerings and since I'm most like to be at the resort to take advantage of those offerings I chosen not to stay there my last few trips. Especially given the price of Poly CL.

Tahiti, Tokelau, and Rapa Nui all have balconies on 2nd and 3rd floors, patios on 1st. The remaining longhouses do not have 2nd floor balconies. Hawaii (Club Level) does not have 2nd floor balconies.

There are no king beds in non-suite rooms.

As to which resort has better food offerings, that's a matter of taste. I would check out the menus for both and decide which you prefer.

Happy planning!

Has anyone stayed in one of these?
Just talked to res. They said the outer club rooms are in Sugarloaf key

We were booked at Sugarloaf a couple of years ago but I canceled in order to get MK view. But everyone seems to like it. One side faces the marina and the other looks towards the quiet pool. But no MK views.

Wonderful!!!!! My fingers are crossed for our upcoming trip. :goodvibes

I just switched from WL/CL to a BC Deluxe Room for 8 nights. To help DH get excited, does anyone remember what brand of beer is served in the Stone Harbor Club? (Hoping it's Sam Adams).
