Yup, scratch the going home a day early idea. The flights went up to $154 one way today. I'll change rooms before I pay that ridiculous rate! :thumbsup2

I'm glad that I rebooked yesterday, because this morning I don't see any deluxe rooms for my time period. :)

I don't blame you! We are also waiting to book our flights out of PVD. Flight down was 134 a few days ago and just went up to 154:confused3. Sometimes SW plays around with it's fares around 11:00pm(they're lower) and changes them at midnight(higher again). I've had good luck waiting for the fares to go down but this year I think I'm SOL!! Never, ever have we paid more than 200 rt.

this is our first time staying CL, it's for two nights at BC in August. Do we tip mousekeeping twice a day? in the morning for general stuff and then again in the evening? Did I understand a PP correctly? we are a family of 5, 2 adults and 3 kids. how much do we need to leave for turndown? or should we just put a couple extra dollars in the morning envelope?
thanks.

Hi!

This might sound like a weird question but I love my tea.
I heard that at the club level GF they have afternoon tea. I assume that it is Twinings but is it made the same way as in the food courts? Where you put the tea bag and hot water into a mug and let the tea steep?

Thank you!!

Thanks - this is very helpful. We don't usually use a bellhop, just carry our bags ourselves, so I wasn't sure about this. Also, are there two different mousekeepers that do the cleaning and the turndown? I usually have one envelope ready for each day for mousekeeping - didn't realize we should actually tip twice :confused3

The turndown service is separate from the morning mousekeeping service. If you choose to tip twice, then you should leave the turndown envelope out separately from morning mousekeeping envelope (or whatever you use for tips). The folks doing turndown are not your morning mousekeepers. Hope that helps with your question.

I could've gotten $114 the same day I changed my standard club to deluxe club, but I didn't do it. The next morning it was $154. I'm still holding out hope to get my 7th night in a deluxe, so I may be able to stay put. ;)

Maybe after next Sunday, (June 6th) they'll have some more inventory for my dates, because that's when the guests with packages will have to payoff their balances. :thumbsup2 Wishful thinking? ;)

No, not wishful thinking...just keep checking everyday. The inventory changes constantly...many people put courtesy holds and never deposit. And, yes, when 45 days prior..final payment comes..there may be some cancellations. Good luck!

Any word about all of the clubs offering the same foods? I heard the buzz... but, haven't seen a post.

Thanks!
Well when it comes to the food offerings from 5:00 PM - 7:00 PM the food comes from the various restaurants of the resort you are staying at, so those will always be different. However the items available for breakfast, afternoon and for dessert are usually the same things, although there might some differences.

The CM's who do morning cleaning and turndown wouldn't be the same. I usually tip about $/person in the am and $1/bed in the evening. I sometimes don't get to tip turndown if I've been out all day but then I figure there isn't too much to do for turndown. If we've all been to the pool and taken showers and have lots of dirty towels I tip more for turndown.

Has anyone had to contact their IPO about reserving a courtesy wheelchair? I have to email BC IPO on Tuesday and find out how this works. DD broke her leg in two places on Friday (at the schools FUN DAY!). She is having surgery this week to put in screws because one of the bones that broke off slipped behind a growth plate. Hopefully she will be out of the regular cast right before we leave (we leave 7 weeks from today) but will still be in an air cast and the doctor already told us no standing or walking for long periods, no pool slides, etc. I really just felt like crying but we're trying to make the best out of it.

Anyway - has anyone ever requested a courtesy wheelchair through their IPO?

Thanks so much.

I haven't, but I would just call them. Their number is listed on the front page of the YC/BC thread. I've spoken with them several times about other issues (I have a special needs child), and they're making sure a few things are taken care of for us prior to arrival. If they don't have the answer, they've gotten back to me within a few hours.

You can have tea anytime. There is a box with several different kinds of Twinings tea. Yes it is a tea bag , not loose tea.

I have stayed CL at the Poly, GF and AKL all within the last six months, and all had different food offerings, even at breakfast. While some of the breakfast offerings were the same, there were many differences as well.

Hi-
I'm trying to make some decisions on an August trip. We haven't been to AKL CL in 5 years and we really miss it. I know things are set up different now and I was hoping to get some input.
I thought the deluxe rooms were pretty small and now they are just standard rooms. I'm trying to figure out if getting two rooms would be better than getting a one bedroom suite (not DVC)? I thought I read once that they views from the one bedroom suites weren't so great? Does anyone know what floor these suites are on? I am looking forward to seeing what the view looks like from the 4th floor as opposed to the 5th. If we were to go with two standard CL rooms what set up would connecting rooms be? Do they have king with queen bunkbed? Is there a section on the 5th floor for just CL rooms or are they scattered?
I'm torn with just getting a two bedroom DVC at Kindi, but my husband really wants to do CL since it is one of our favorite CL's and we use to stay there every visit till they changed the size of the rooms. It's not a very good value for our family of five to do every trip since we need to get two rooms or a suite. Thought it's worth it to sneak in a short visit for old times sake.
TIA!

Robyn, we used to borrow a wheelchair from the resorts on most trips some years ago. We were never able to reserve one ahead of time. We didn't stay club level back in those years but it's always been my understanding that they are first come, first served. Nonetheless, we always were able to get one. Good luck to your DD.

Barb - thanks again! You are a wealth of information. I'll email IPO and see if they are able to reserve one. If not, we may just bring the one we rented.
Not a question I thought I'd be asking!

Wheelchairs at the resorts can't be reserved ahead of time and are first-come, first served.

Even if you plan to borrow one from the resort, I usually suggest people bring along the names/contact information for some of the off-site rental companies.
Some posters have had good success with getting a wheelchair from the resort and others have posted that there either were none available or the ones that were available were not suitable (extra wide when they needed narrow) or were not in good condition.
If you follow the link in my signature to the disABILITIES FAQs thread, post #2 has information about wheelchair and ECVs.

After doing some research I think that we are torn between Club Level at the Polynesian and Club Level at the Grand Floridian Resort & Spa. We came up with a few questions to ask:

1.*Has anyone ever had problems with the cleanliness of the rooms at the Polynesian Club Level?

2. Are the Club Level Garden View rooms the same size as the rest of the standard Garden View rooms?

3. What sorts of afternoon snacks do they serve at the Polynesian? Gummy sharks, pretzels etc? The same snacks as the other resorts club level lounge offerings?

4. Do they perhaps serve Jack Daniels in the evening (it is not for me :lmao:)?

Thank you all so much for the answers to these questions - I appreciate it!!

Does anyone know if there is grass between the patio and the sand at The Poly Hawaii building? We're staying CL TPV for the first time. I requested a ground level room. Is the sand right up to the patio? I've never been on that side of Hawaii and I'm just trying to visualize.
TIA
