ok so I'm sitting here cl waiting for wishes at the Poly. I love the Poly stayed here on my honeymoon 22 years ago this week. My lesson, so sorry to offend, since I am one of the rabble. I don't like eating with everyone else at breakfast. I love the idea of eating a light breakfast alone with my own train wreck ;0). Also I don't ever have to do this again. My dvc will be enough. Gotta run parade showing

:confused3:confused3

O-kay. You can always take your breakfast back to your room alone with your train wreck :confused3

Thank you!!! I mean, is that so hard to figure out? Take your dern breakfast into your room and enjoy it there for crying out loud. I wouldn't be wasting my precious Disney time complaining about it on here!!! :thumbsup2:thumbsup2

Must give a big cheer for Xio the IPO at BC. I e-mailed the IPO this afternoon with a request for an ADR at Rose & Crown around 7pm ish on either 8/6 or 8/11. I've been trying online to no availe, but Xio was back to me in less than an hour with a time around 7 for both nights, so I could choose!!!! I was floored by the response. Now I seriously cannot wait. And because I'm keeping the CL part of the resort a surprise I have nobody here to share it with, lol.

ITA - we dealt with Xio last year and again this year and she is amazing. She was able to get us into the Wishes Dessert Buffet the day it opened up for our time frame.

Changed my opinion of the BWI/Yacht Club/BC IPO drastically, after an email this morning. I love Boardwalk Inn, but have never been impressed with the IPO. In the past, they have mixed up reservations a few times, and I have always thought that the AKL and the Poly IPO offices were far superior.

BUT....a small thing has changed my mind forever. Next week is my 180 day mark, and I got the standard email from them about planning ADR's. I responded that I wasn't going to have them make any ADR's this trip, because we were going to have to take a more laid-back approach to the whole thing due to Mom's Alzheimer's. I thanked them for the email, and said I would get back with them soon about making DME ressies.

I just opened a responding email from them, and it was exactly what I needed to see. I have had small doubts in the back of my mind about taking Mom, particularly by myself. But Terri, in the IPO office, somehow wrote just what I needed to see. She said that her Mom had also had Alzheimer's, she understood the need for a laid-back vacation this time, and suggested a few "pampering" services, such as a manicure or hair .

I don't know why, but this was exactly the email I needed to see today. I now have a great appreciation for Terri and the IPO staff.

I admit, they have blown me away as well. Its those personal touches that really make it feel "worth it" for paying the premium for CL services. Hope you have a fabulous vacation with your mom!

Sorry I guess my point wasn't made. What I was trying to say is that I liked breakfast at the Con. lounge because you weren't sitting there with a million others vying for breakfast and a table.

I too have been very pleased with Xio and Terri (IPO's at BC). They have gotten back to me very quickly and I have had many requests and changes ;)

I too have kept the fact we are staying CL from my family. DH did find out I had booked a fishing excursion, but he is happy about it. Xio also applied the Birmbaum coupon for the fishing to the reissie I had already made (bought the book after the fact). That will save us alot! Maybe now I can get a pedicure while I am there!!!! :woohoo:

I agree. Depending on what time you go to the Poly lounge, you're better off taking it to your room. :)

Are you going to do Poly CL again at a future date? We tried it there and still preferred the CL at BWI more. :)

okay, here's our dilemma...
we make an annual spring trip to WDW and have been making our way through the various deluxe resorts, club level. Last month we stayed RPC at GF and loved it so we took advantage of the bounce back offer and booked for December at 40% off (a great deal!). Now, the rest of the family is insisting that this is an extra (bonus) trip and not to replace the regular spring one. I'm concerned that this might be a little disney overkill (yes, there is such a thing!) and am considering Loews Portofino Bay at Universal for March 2011. Has anyone stayed there (club level), how does it compare to the Disney resorts? I know this is blasphemy to some, but will appreciate any advice.
thanks! :cool1:

We stayed at Portofino (not club level) and really liked it. The rooms were heavenly!!! We had a bay view. The pizza at one of the restaurants was soo delicious! It was wood fired.

You may want to read the thread over on the Universal board about the club level. I _think_ at Portofino, there isn't a club floor. You can be assigned anywhere in the hotel but have access to the club lounge on the main floor. It may be the Hard Rock that is like this, I can't remember. But one of the Universal hotels has a set up like this.

I see now. Thanks for clearing it up! It came off a little odd. :goodvibes:goodvibes

Is this new? I haven't seen donuts at Poly the 5 times I've been there.

I've never had a doughnut at Polynesian CL either--at least not in the last 15 years anyway. . .LOL It has always been Danish of some sort. :confused3

Not new, old.

I've stayed CL at Poly, BC, and CR and have not seen a donut at any of them. Not once. I think maybe they used to offer these, but stopped. I was told that last summer, shortly before we arrived, BC had changed it's offerings.

You will get pastries, mini-muffins, breads, very plain white bread mini bagels. The exact selection varies from day to day. You get cereal, fresh fruit, and juices. And heavenly coffee! Each resort has sligtly different options, but mostly they were pretty similar.

If you want greasy treats, the time of day to hit the lounge is the afternoon. Particularly - I would say - at BC. Some things were very tasty, but how many bacon wrapped scallops can a person eat? When they are accompanied by housemade kettle-style potato chips, and cheese trays? :scared:

Many years ago, at Sugar Loaf concierge, I remember them serving Krispy Kremes. I believe that was the only summer I saw them.

The Contemporary and Polynesian use Krispy Kreme Donuts during their breakfast service.

Sorry CR Fan - no donuts at Poly. They only had cinnamon danish, bread and bagels. BWI and AKL had a few kinds of danish and muffins, but not at Poly. I was bummed. :sad1:
