Concierge/Club Level Information - Part II (Sept 2009)

Thanks Johnsonet! AKL is my favourite resort and we where excited to be going back....however, after reading that you can apply the Deluxe 40% off deal to a reservation WITH dining, I ran the numbers again. By changing resorts to the Beach Club with Deluxe Dining, I was able to save approximately $700.00. I couldn't pass by that kind of savings, so I changed my ressie yet again! I was sad to give up AKL CL, but my teen son will have a blast trying this new location out, and it will be neat to see what the "other side of Disney" (Epcot area resort) has to offer! I hope we like it as much as our beloved AKL

Funny - we're headed to BC for our next trip as well You will love it. Way to go on your 40% off deal.

I am so happy I was able to apply the Free Dining discount to my AKL CL reservation this AM. Looking forward to another peaceful stay at a beautiful resort with access to our favourite Club lounge (not that I've tried any others, LOL AKL keeps pulling us home! )

You should have them price out your stay using the 40% off code (Code ID6)with dining added (you pay dining). I am almost positive it would be cheaper for you than free dining.

You can't stack discounts. If you add dining on to a % off reservation, you pay for the dining.

I'd call guest services (not central reservations) because I've been told that you can't "stack discounts" but what they may mean is they are paying for the dining, see, even with me paying for dining I'm still going to save a bundle.

AHhh - I get it. Thanks for clarifying. I had to go back and re-read the OP and realized she meant she was applying the discount to a ressie that has (paid) dining plan attached.

See, in our case, dining would cost us around $170 per day, I figure if I'm saving any more than that with a percentage off code, it's better for me, like I'm getting free dining!

At first, I thought room only meant you couldn't add on the dining pkg. so I wasn't even going to run the numbers....then a fellow disser encouraged me to run the numbers and let me know with this deal you CAN add on tickets and dining (paying for them) and using the 40% room code (essentially building a package out of this deal)....so when I ran the numbers, it was a win-win situation to take advantage of this discount offer! With all that said, I can now say......

You are so gonna be hooked on the EPCOT resort area! We either stay there (YC for us) or on the monorail, DH says that AKL is way too isolated in the evenings. We love walking into EPCOT in the evenings or around the Boardwalk, going in the stores, getting a sweet at the bakery, walking back into EPCOT for Illuminations. :

No, that's fine. I finally figured it out - with a little help.

I wanted to throw in here, a little off topic so I apologize, I think you will love BC. That's where we stayed on our last trip. We had a 16- and a 15-year old girl with us. It was so nice to be able to go to Epcot with a short 5-minute walk any time of the day. I think we probably hit Epcot (we had park-hoppers) for at least part of every day. We felt safe turning the girls loose to go over there, or wherever. The pool is great, and we love the smell when you enter the lobby. We had a nice garden view room with a balcony. Plenty of space, really, for all 5 of us.

I think you'll really like it.

I just wanted to post a quick note acknowledging the BWI IPO office. Today was my 180 day mark for ADRs and I had an email from them at 6:05am (CT) with all the completed ADRs. Their service in every respect has been TOP notch I wish I could post that I got that consistent level of service from the GF's IPO office last year Spotty at best, sadly, was all I experienced from them (at least in IPO, the resort CL CM's are AMAZING!)

Well, all I can say is "yes, it's enclosed" It wasn't really a problem for us as we didn't spend much time out there in November (except for DD who spent hours out there on the phone and texting). ( I keep writing stuff and then erasing it so I don't sound snotty! ). I guess if you had little ones and wanted them to see the EWP from the balcony it may be a problem, but other than that, it wasn't a deal breaker for us.

we make an annual spring trip to WDW and have been making our way through the various deluxe resorts, club level. Last month we stayed RPC at GF and loved it so we took advantage of the bounce back offer and booked for December at 40% off (a great deal!). Now, the rest of the family is insisting that this is an extra (bonus) trip and not to replace the regular spring one. I'm concerned that this might be a little disney overkill (yes, there is such a thing!) and am considering Loews Portofino Bay at Universal for March 2011. Has anyone stayed there (club level), how does it compare to the Disney resorts? I know this is blasphemy to some, but will appreciate any advice.

Our room was 7107 so VERY close to the club and elevator (nice!) but we won't stay CL at WL again because of the balconies. We do have a 7-year-old who couldn't see over the rail without being lifted up or standing on something (not safe) and it just made the room so dark. We all like to spend time on the balcony enjoying the view, people watching, relaxing, and that just wasn't possible with these balconies so for our family, it's a deal-breaker.

Thank you for that. That balcony has been a real concern for me. I get up early and love to sit in the balcony waiting (AND WAITING) for the rest to get up.

I might have to downgrade to a non CL room if one is still available.

We've stayed at PBH twice, most recently in January, but not CL (no rooms available last visit). Both times we stayed lagoon view, although our last room I would be hesitant to call lagoon view, we saw a lot of road and trees, and were all the way at the end of the hallway. But I have to say, PBH made it right, sent me a voucher for one night. I think the CL rooms vmay face the villa pool but I'm not sure, there may be some lagoon view ones as well. I'd recommend the lagoon view if possible, it really is lovely.

yes, you can take drinks and snacks back to the room and the CL is in the Hawaii longhouse.

My family and I have taken food back to our room from the lounges at the Contemporary and Polynesian when we stayed Club Level at those resorts.

We've loved our 2 visits to Loew's Royal Pacific with club level so can't imagine you would be unhappy with Portofino Bay. Just make sure you join the Loew's Frequent "flyer" program. Also, with the resort stay, you get unlimited "fast passes" to the major attractions, which is priceless no matter the season. Disney Club level is pretty lame compared to most major resorts so anything will be at least as good.
