Round two - I have decided that the Epcot resorts are what we will be happiest with. I thought about AKL, but think it is too dark for us. Which of these resorts would be best? We will definitely be eating breakfast and dinner in the lounge. I know BC is small, but how is BWI? Haven't ever stayed there either, other than SAB, how do the rooms compare? Not too worried about the planning aspects of the trip - I prefer to handle that stuff myself.

So why are you staying concierge? Is it for the service? I can answer to the BWI Concierge staff, they are phenomenal....you can't go wrong. If it's for the food, I'd reconsider concierge if I were you. You really can't make a meal out of the food in any of the lounges, maybe a quick bite on the way out for breakfast or an evening snack. Honestly, when I've stayed concierge the food was of so little importance, I can't see making a decision to stay at that level based on the food. Good luck with your trip, I just want to make sure you have an honest perspective on what it's like.

ETA: As to your question about the size of the rooms at BWI. The regular concierge rooms are the same size as standard rooms, but there is a deluxe concierge room which is larger and as I'm sure you've guessed...more expensive. :)

BWI concierge gets it's food from Spoodles and Flying Fish.
BC concierge gets it's food from Cape May and Yachtsman Steakhouse, I believe.

Breakfast is very doable from the concierge lounge, as long as you don't expect/want much more than cereal, fruit and bread. Dinner from the lounge is much harder to do. It's not a buffet and they don't put that so much food out such that people can make full meals from it (although some people do try). In addition, the food doesn't change everyday, so it can get a little boring having the same thing day after day. It's up to you, of course, but just remember to be considerate of the other guests if you elect to use the lounge for dinner.

Sorry, I can not answer your question about which food is better. Just thought you might enjoy a post that responded to your question.

We stayed concierge last trip at BC. It was awesome. We found that we always had breakfast there, so convenient!, a big lunch out and then were happy with the snacks/appetizers as "dinner." Desserts were great too. We didn't camp out in the lounge or anything like that. I liked the quietness of the floor as well. As for services, I don't think I really need help making PS - what other services do they offer that you find puts it over the top?

Kaitysmom: Making PS's yourself is a fun part of the planning but I've found it's just as much fun telling the itinerary planner which ones you want also AND you end up 9 times out of 10 getting the best tables, times, etc. It's noted on the PS when concierge itinerary planners make the PS and they tend to give the best tables to the concierge guests. Not always.....but like I said it's been my experience that it's usually that way.

That is something that I didn't realize - good to know :flower:

We stayed in the YC at the beginning of December. I've heard that the BC and YC have very similar concierge services and I would not opt to stay there again. I thought the lounge was very small and I think the BC lounge is a bit smaller. I was also disappointed that they close it all up in between food servings. You couldn't even go in there, sit down and have a cool drink. We do tend to spend more time at the resort than the parks, so this was a let down. I'm also an early riser, while my family likes to sleep in. I've always enjoyed being able to take the paper that they dropped off and go sit in the lounge until the rest of my family gets moving. Can't do that there. Since our stay, I've been doing some research on the BWI and have found that their lounge is open, more spacious and has great views.

All three resorts do share the same pre-planning staff. In my experience, they were the best that I've ever worked with.

There's an active thread going for concierge information, so you might want to post your question here also: http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=679928.

The BWI staff was outstanding when my wife and I stayed there for a long weekend getaway. We sat in the lounge and chatted with some wonderful CM's several different times during our visit. The staff never failed to pull a "miracle last minute reservation" out of their hat, including one at the nice restaurant in "France" at Epcot. We got caught in an afternoon downpour and concierge worked some magic so that by the time we showed up, drenched, the receptionist escorted us by a long line and right to our table.

Their evening "snacks" included Lobster Turnovers, Chicken Wellington and some incredibly tasty meatball like food that I can't recall the name of. They also had chocolate covered strawberries and other incredible pickings.

BWI concierge is as good as it gets. I'd say it was superior to the Polynesian and AKL concierge. Don't know about WL Concierge, but will report shortly.

We still stay mostly at the Polynesian. Location, monorail and nostalgia.
