Just wondering if the concert series at MGM in Sept & Oct cause the park to be more crowded? We are planning to visit the park once when we go in Oct. Ralphs World will be there the day we plan to go. Is this going to cause larger crowds or should be be okay??

I did not find it so when we went to Dan Zanes but I've heard that the Doodlebops was crazy.

I would not think it would be too bad for Ralph, but he has sold out a coupld shows up here in Chicago lately...granted he is from here...but, he is not the Doodlebops or Wiggles, so I would think you would be ok. Good luck.

We went last year for the doodlebops. Actually we stayed on an extra third week after everyone else went home just to see the concerts.
I don't think the park was "carzy" or overly crowded. If you hadn't known the concerts were happening or were in another area of MGM you could have missed them altogether.

The concerts each only had a limited number of tickets and you needed to get them earlier in the day at a table in front for each show to be assured of a seat. There was a small stand-by line but most of the concerts I saw were completely filled beforehand.

We took DD6 to three concerts that week. I hadn't expected to, but the first was so awesome that we both wanted to do it again. I wasn't a doodlebop fan before the concerts and am slightly ashamed to admit that I actually enjoyed them quite a bit myself too. I wish they'd had an autograph session with them sometime during the week - I'd even have paid for it if neccessary - but that wasn't an option. I'd still have liked to have had a close-up photo with DD and the band though, that would just be too cute.

Inside the kids moved, danced and sang and the doodlebops came thru the front row high five-ing kids and saying hello. It was loud, but a happy and orderly event - unless of course you count the irritation factor of the parents who sent their older kids in alone to save 4-5 seats in the middle of the row for other family members to join them later backing up a whole line of grumpy complaining families.
Actually, thinking back, any bad behavior that I saw inside the concerts was caused by parents pushing or failing to follow directions and not by the kids or CMs. They just sat back happily and enjoyed the show...

Thanks for the info Dancemom.
I am taking my kids to Doodlebops and Playhouse Disney shows in September and reading anything about it helps.

We got tickets for a show first thing in the morning, then started the day with a playhouse disney lunch at Hollywood & Vine before heading to the concert. It was great even though DD, who was 5 at the time, pretended to be totally uninterested in the lunch characters. Afterwards however she loved watching the video from lunch and kept skipping back to watch it again & again so I know she enjoyed it despite her standoff-ish "i am too grown up" attitude.

Entering the theatre was mass chaos. You might want to get there early and ask a CM to show you which doors are closest to the stage. I could probably describe it but that is liable to make it evn more confusing, I'm afraid.
Even though we were at the front of the line we ended up sitting in the fourth row because others pushed past. After we did it the first time DD17 took her lil sis for seats up front without me at the next show as she was better able to get the hang of slipping thru the confusion of hectic pushy parents.
They requested no flash pics and no video taping. That's why I'd have liked an autograph session afterwards. From what I saw nobody around me listened and it seemed like there were more camcorders running in there than anywhere else in the park. Those in the theatre were also all given playhouse disney dvds as we exited.

I'm sure you'll have an awesome time. try not to sing along too loudly though - I'm told it's embarassing for your offspring... :dance3:

We will be there for the Doodlebops. Should we get there at opening to get the tickets, or will there already be mass crowds lined up way before opening? Where did you go to get the tickets? Which theatre is it in & do we have to line up an hour before the show to get a decent seat?

It wasn't lined up before opening last year as far as I know but we had extended an extra week after DH and everyone else went home just for the concerts and other girly things like shopping so we weren't at all type A about it and didn't get there at park opening that I remember. We did get there before 10 or 11am though each day.

There was a table set up just outside/in front of the theater. One day it was in front, another it was in front on the other side of the main sidewalk. They didn't write down our names or anything but they did keep a count on their clipboards and gave each person a stamped card with a number written in magic marker and the show time. We could have requested tickets for more than one show on the same day if we'd wanted and there were cards left.
Last year they did not let you sign up a day in advance which I thought very unfair for those who may have booked the preschool package just because of the concerts. I was concerned that a client I had who I knew planned her trip only for the doodlebops might not have gotten in and we'd hear complaints but it didn't happen so I guess all was well after all.

I think we lined up maybe 30 mins before but that was just us. Folks did arrive later and got seats but after a certain time they open entrance to the stand-by line for those folks who didn't get tickets. For serious doodlebops fans, I highly recommend doing it once to get a feel for it, then doing a later show for real enjoyment. DD6 knew what was coming the second time and enjoyed it much more. The first time she was too reserved to dance along or do the hand movements that the kids did. Those in the front row were allowed to get out of their seats and sit or dance on the floor in front of their seats (except maybe when the doodlebops actually walked by in that space high-fiving the kids) so it was coveted place to be.

The show was held in the theater that I think used to house Drew Carey or millionaire maybe? It's the first one on the left from the hat and just beyond the lake. The line for those with tickets was deceptive. Like all wdw attractions there are doors all the way down the side of the theater and that's where you line up but just like honey, I shrunk the audience the stage was the furthest door from the front, yet when the doors opened everyone headed there down the aisles upon entering, despite being told to move straight across all the way to end - you know the speil, and this is one place where you really do need to feel sorry for those not doing it as kids have probably been sent in ahead to save seats for those adults who will then arrive with attitudes and push over you after you've gotten seated. (what is with these parents anyway, don't they realize this is a vacation their kids will likely remember for years to come? geez, people...)

The show was maybe 30-45 minutes long and they had 3-4 (?) shows per day maybe. I think the first was at 10:30 but could be wrong. The sold costumes and wigs outside the door and quite a few kids wore them in. It'd be much cheaper to buy them at home though I bet before your trip. DD6 wanted a pink wig. I think it was $18 but I don't really remember except I wished I'd bought it at home instead.
