Concerned about members in my family and friends for virtual queue

Hello,

We are new to the virtual queue and basically have one shot at this (well, 2 if you count the 1pm option)--we have park reservations for this week and 3 in our party are hoping for a boarding pass after having studied the process online. We will be ready to go at 7am. HOWEVER, I have another person in my 'family and friends' that we have dining and hotel plans with, but they will not be in the park with us that day nor do we need a boarding pass for them. What should we do when we get to the screen that asks who is joining the queue. Most people say to just keep hitting join, join, join for your best success so I don't want to muck around with clicking people's names as recommended. Will this person's name show up seeing as they don't have a park reservation (or even a park ticket) for that day? I am envisioning some nightmare screen where if we just keep clicking join we will end up with 'oh this person doesn't have a park reservation or a ticket' which will blow the whole thing. Any ideas? It's frustrating because we can't test anything.

I've only had this situation once, but I'm pretty sure the person was on my list of people, but already unselected. I believe the system pre-selects any people you're connected to with a park pass reservation, so you don't need to worry about checking or unchecking people and can just keep on clicking through the join screens.

If the other person doesn’t have a park reservation at HS they will not be included with your Boarding Group.

I agree with the advice to just click join join join ASAP when the queue opens 😊

If you stop to check or uncheck anyone, you won't get a BG. Those with a park pass for that day will be automatically selected. Just click join 3x as fast as you can, and if for some reason the names aren't correct, you can go to guest services and they can fix it for you.

Well 'join join join' it is and hoping for the best. All 3 of us will try as well. Does it work best if each are logged into our own respect MDE accounts? Thanks for the help!

If all three of you have everyone in your party listed in their F&F lists, they can log into their own accounts. Won't matter either way.

Maybe if you have 3 people all trying have one of those people take a moment to check that the members of your party without reservations are unchecked? That way others can (hopefully) get it with the join-join-join method and the one person checking can give you a shot if someone does need to be unchecked?

No, don’t worry about who’s checked or not. Just click join-join-join. If you get a BG and someone is left out, see the Guest Experience CMs in the blue shirts and they’ll fix it.

I think the concern is the opposite, that someone will be checked who doesn't have a park reservation preventing you from getting boarding groups because you'd get an error message. I've thought about this because I'll have a two-year-old in my group who's part of my party, but doesn't need tickets and therefore doesn't have a park reservation. If she's automatically checked when I'm trying to secure a boarding group, I'd be out of luck!

In practice that has not been a problem at all. We’ve always had F&F who were not with us, and we have always gotten a BG, whether it was just DH and myself or in December when we had a party of 9 trying via 4 MDE accounts on 6 smartphones! The system does not select anyone who doesn’t have the required ticket/park pass. Others have reported the same thing. So don’t worry!

That's encouraging! I've been keeping my ears out for people in this situation to see what their experience has been, so I appreciate you sharing yours! It just feels very high-stakes since it's our first (and possibly only, at least for a while) visit to Disney, we only have one HS day, and we're big Star Wars fans!

We have hundreds of reports on the BG thread of and never once has that been reported as a problem. I really wouldn't worry about that at all. Good luck!

All was successful, but I will say my son had only the 3 of us in his family and friends so it was nice and clean for him, and he happened to be the one first in. By the time I got to the third join screen it was gray and I couldn't click it. It was probably grayed out because my son already got the boarding passes. It all happened so fast, and the only thing I could check was to add more people to my list, so I clicked that. Dumb I know but I couldn't click anything else and it was all so very fast. I do believe it picked the right people. He received boarding pass 5. FWIW, DH was on Verizon, I was on Sprint, and DS was on Disney wifi and he's the one who got it. We were at OKW.
