So we are "planning" on staying at AKV for our April trip. I use quotes around "planning", b/c I have to start calling on Thursday. Anyway, we are bringing some friends, so we want to get a 2bdr in the concierge level. So my questions to you wonderful DISers are;

1) What is included in the concierge level? Is it the same that is stated on the WDW website? The DVC site is down for me right now. I know they include daily housekeeping.

2) Are all concierge level rooms savannah facing?

3) Finally, how many 2bdr, concierge level rooms are there? And how many savannah facing rooms are there (2 bdr)?

4) Finally, what is the likely hood of a 7 month booking window for these (late April)?

Thanks in advanced to everyone.

One of the main reasons some of us are interested in Concierge level at AKV is because Concierge guests can book the Sunrise Safari at AK and the Sunset Safari at AKL/V, subject to availability. I don't know much else about Concierge level at AKV so I hope someone else will add more info.

2) Are all concierge level rooms savannah facing?

There are a total of FIVE 2BR lockoffs. MS splits up some of those 2BR lockoffs into 1BRs and Studios so not all five 2BR lockoffs will be available to be booked as 2BR villas.

Three of the 2BR lockoffs face the Sunset Savanna. The other two face the pool area. You can request a particular view but it is not guaranteed. I expect Concierge level will always be fully booked so some people are going to get a pool view.

4) Finally, what is the likely hood of a 7 month booking window for these (late April)?
With so few Concierge villas, it's not going to be easy to get one at the 7-month window, but a few people have managed to do so. Given that there are far fewer AKV owners now than there will be when the resort is fully sold, and that many owners opted to book a guaranteed Savanna View villa for their first stay, your chances of snagging one are better now than they will ever be. Good luck!

We just want standard studio but we are calling starting on Thursday morning too! I have never had to do the 7 months right to the day thing before! Good luck.

2) Are all concierge level rooms savannah facing? No, unfortunately. I am going to request it for my April/May vacation but I know it's not guaranteed.

3) Finally, how many 2bdr, concierge level rooms are there? And how many savannah facing rooms are there (2 bdr)?

4) Finally, what is the likely hood of a 7 month booking window for these (late April)? When I called last week, there were rooms available in all levels including concierge, I don't know about now but we can hope.

Thanks in advanced to everyone.

Surprisingly the member website has very little to say about AKV's Con. It is not even listed in their points calculator as an option or on their points chart that I can remmerb. (site is down for me too.) I wish they would correct that!

Besides the safari there will be daily mousekeeping and turn down service, plus the lounge area with all it's complimentary food etc. We are staying in a 1 bedroom concierge level villa in March. I requested savanna view, but I'll take what I get and probably be very happy with it!

We had a short stay in AKL club level in April, 2006. We loved it. The lounge has a drop dead view of the lobby and Arusha Rock beyond. There are tables and chairs for dining and a seating area around a TV that plays Disney cartoons. When we were there, the same few cartoons played over and over.

The Itinerary Planning Office will help you make dining reservations if you like. I prefer to make my own but will ask them for an email confirmation before a trip. IPO is also the office to contact to reserve the Safaris. Since they handle the safari reservations they can enter you into the system before the actual 180 booking window. For dining reservations, you can let them know your requests and they will try at the 180 mark.

Continental breakfast is served from 7am to 10 or 10:30. There are light snacks and beverages available throughout the day. Tea with scones is available starting at 2 or 3?? Appetizers were out from 5-7 and beer and wine is available then too. The appetizers were very good. Desserts and cordials are available from 8-10pm. There is a very nice cappuccino machine that coffee lovers rave about. I enjoy a couple lattes from it and they were very good.

We have short stays in AKV club level coming up in Feb and May and I can't wait.:cool1:

You can always try again tomorrow but I just called last week for a 1 or 2 brm AKV concierge for the 3rd week in April & it's completely booked.

We called for 1BR concierge first week of July 2008 - completely booked

I called to book our AKV stay on Sept 5...for an extended weekend..studios in Concierge were available!! I was so excited , however they cannot guarantee a Savanna view..so I just took Savanna view to be safe. (this trip is for DD10, not ME!) lol
Anyway, I have read on some threads, that some standard rooms MAY have a savanna view? That would be great for those guests..but if I didnt have to use more pts..I wouldn't. I would love the concierge for the safari....but DD wants animals to look at from our room. I guess our membership to Brookfield Zoo is not enough! lol

It is on the points chart, but it is not listed in the points calculator, nor are Standard View and Value villas. In fact, AKV isn't fully supported in a lot of areas of the members' website. It's not included in the Resorts Comparison, and most AKV contract info shows the resort name as "null". It's as if they started putting in support for AKV, stopped part way through and never went back to finish the job!

I think you are thinking of the Value villas which can have a view of a savanna, the pool area or the parking lot. The Standard View villas at Jambo House face the pool area. Standard View villas in Kidani will have either a pool or parking lot view.

so many views....so many room categories! ugh.lol..will I ever learn them?
Ok...so I will stay with what I have....that would be a tough one to explain to DD...WOw...look at THAT Subaru!!.lol

DISboard member robinb and her DH came up with a great idea for people who get a parking lot view: a car-related version of the AKL animal identification sheet! It would have pictures of cars that have animal names: Mustang, Cougar, Jaguar, Ram, etc. with the little check off box next to each one so you could keep track of how many you spotted out in the lot. :lmao:

I have a studio booked for April 17,18 and 19, if we get a parking lot view I'll be going with this as an activity for my DD12 AKA Jane Goodall Jr. At least DH and I will get a good laugh!:lmao:

No, no, no. Not Subarus. Look at all those mustangs, impalas, jaguars, beetles, broncos, etc.

PS - looks like you guys beat me to the joke :)

This is all great information! Thanks to everyone for the replies. I will post again tomorrow night to let everyone know how the booking goes.

Heidi, It sounds like we will be competing tomorrow morning for the DVC rep. However, you have a leg up, b/c I know I will be in a tunnel when they open. NYC commute.

Anyway, wish us luck.

Good luck everyone calling today.

I be they'll be lots of DISsers in the lounge the first year or so of AKV.:cool1:

I got a Studio Standard View!!! We are thrilled. We have stayed at AKL before but never on points!!!
