I was wondering if there are additional costs to conceirge besides the ticket price. Is it customary to tip the dek if they get you reservations and is it customary to tip service help or tkitchen staff-if so how much- also any other costs- we are usally big tippers after my years as waitress but never doneconceirge before.:Pinkbounc :jester: :earsgirl: :earsboy:
PS pictures are for my 3year old :p

They should make your dining reservations before you go. No tips to the concierge staff are necessary. Housekeeping is not a tipped position but I'm sure they appreciate it. Bell services should be tipped.

What do you mean make the ressie before we go? My mom uses conceirge in big hotels a lot and she said getting ressies you get a better chance if you tip. Anyway they do not put out tip envelopes either?

Generally you should make any dining reservations through concierge before you head off to WDW, as many of the more popular restaurants sell-out (or at least book up the more popular dining times).

As far as tipping, the concierge generally will not accept cash tips, however small gifts such as candy, a small basket of items from your home town, etc. is always appreciated.

I always tip housekeeping, $5 per day in teh morning, and another $2 per day left for evening turndown.

The bell and valet staff get $1 per bag, plus $2 each time the car is brought or taken. I don't tip for callling a cab--I know others do.

We stayed concierge a couple of years ago and the concierge staff made ressies for us the same day, usually within 30 min of my first request, and I did not tip them. They are there to help and if you don't use them, then you are wasting some the extra cost you've paid to stay concierge.

I have also had good luck, when not staying conc. making dinner ressies at the guest services desk in the lobby.

The last time we went, we stayed at a moderate and I did make ressies before I left home because it was Easter week.

Concierge at Disney (where tipping is not expected or accepted) is not the same as using Concierge services in big hotels (where it is common to tip for services rendered). You're already paying extra to receive Concierge services at Disney, so no additional tips needed. Thank yous and letters of appreciation are great.

As already stated, it's best to ask Concierge to make dinner reservations in advance if you're going during a busy time or have specific times you want to eat or are looking for hard to get reservations (Cindy's for bkfst, CG during fireworks, etc).

I spoke to one of the CM on the WL concierge staff and asked him how we could show our appreciation to the staff. His immediate response was write a letter.

He noted that the concierge position is not a tip role and that they are compensated differently. He said the letter will go in their personnel file and will be considered for the next raise.

My wife has worked in several customer service related positions and for the most part (like 10 to 1), companies only hear from disgruntled customers. So a positive letter can have a big impact.

I'm sure Disney gets plently of letters from upset concierge guests who didn't get the sun the moon and the stars when they stayed...
