Conceirge-Buying Gifts For Your Room

Just back from staying at the Polynesian Concierge and I had requested that a Pal Mickey and some beach toy type items be in the room when we arrived. I e-mailed the request to Tara and she said no problem she would just use the credit card they had on file. Unfortunately when we arrived there was nothing in the room. After a quick trip to the MK I checked with the concierge desk and they had no record of my request. No big deal, I just went to Captain Jacks and bought Pal Mickey. I did talk to a couple of other people who had very problems with purchase requests ranging from receiving one of two items they had requested or having to run down the items at the conceirge desk.

It wasn't really a big deal and it was the only glitch we had during our wonderful stay.

You can do this on your own too - you don't have to stay in concierge plus you have more control over it if you do it yourself.

When we went a couple of years ago I took wrapped gifts (can't bring these in luggage anymore if you are flying, but you could bring gift bags for easy "wrap" after you get to the hotel.).

Each day when we left in the morning, I hung back making some sort of excuse like "I have to get my purse" or whatever and I put their gifts on their beds to find later. Housekeeping would place the gifts on their beds after they made the beds up during the day.

It wasn't expensive either because I shopped for the stuff all year prior to our trip (looking for sales at the Disney store and searching for cheap disney items).

Kids loved it. My youngest still doesn't know it was me putting the gifts out. Unfortunately, now she expects great stuff like that on ALL trips

By the way, probably with concierge when you ask about these "favors" I'm betting they usually pick up the phone and have WDW florist do it.

I did this on our last trip! It worked out great! I asked if they could have a Buzz Lanyard and EPCOT Passport and 4 guest of honor badges with our names on them. They said no problem. I just had to provide them with my CC#

I am sooo glad I saw this thread. We are headed to AKL Concierge next month. I will give them a call. My girls will go nuts, if they arrive to goodies in the room!

Thanks!

I asked the AKL concierge to have an AKL t-shirt waiting for my Dad when we checked in.

I was surprising my Dad with a stay at AKL, so I had to make up an excuse to get him over there from PO-FQ. So I made up two. I told him we should go to Boma for breakfast (that's excuse #1) and "Besides, isn't your AKL t-shirt worn out? We should stop by the lodge to buy you another one."(excuse #2)

I told the concierge that I thought it would be funny to be able to hand a t-shirt to my Dad during check-in. It would bring all of my lying (A.K.A. "excuses") full circle to punctuate his surprise.

They agreed and were able to take care of everything. I gave her my Visa numbers over the phone so they could charge the shirt before arrived. They seemed to be happy to do it.
