Are there computers on board that you can use, without paying for the internet? We have a digital camera, and are thinking about ways to download our pictures on to a disk without taking a laptop. We will have no need to use the internet while cruising. We have 2-64 mb memory cards, and were going to go out and get another. I rarely use the second card as it is, so a third one would never get used. Does anyone have past experience with this?

I used my digital on our trip and I got a 128MB card for my camera and I kept it at best quality (at 2.2 megapixels and resolution of 1800x1200) I was able to take 198 pictures (well had available that many). I charged it everytime we went to our room and it worked out perfectly. I didn't want to bring my laptop either. I thought I took alot of pictures and didn't come close to filling this card. Good luck. email me if you have any questions at Piglet_Pooh99@hotmail.com

We took over 1400 pictures so for us, bringing the laptop was the best thing. I would rather take a lot & be able to compare & delete than be at all worried about missing a shot because I want to keep a little space on a memory stick.

Another option would be to use a portable hard drive. I have a device called a Mindstor from Minds at Work (www.mindsatwork.net). The device is a little bigger than a paperback book. Mine has a 10Gb hard drive (It comes in a 20 and 30Gb version as well). It also has a PCMCIA slot. It comes with a Compact Flash/PCMCIA adapter (you can buy a Smart Media or Memory Stick version as well). YOu take the Compact flash out of the camera, plug it into the adapter and plug the adapter into the Mindstor. Turn on the mindstor. Press 2 buttons and you have copied the entire contents of the memory card to the hard drive. Every time you do that it creates a new directory. After you are done, you can put your memory back in the camera and empty it to start over.

Even though I had a 256Mb Compact Flash card, I still copies the memory to the Mindstor every evening. When I came home I just connected the USB cable that came with it to the PC and downloaded everything. Piece of cake.

As you can tell I am very happy with mine. Check it out. It saves bringing a laptop with you. If something were to happen to it, it is a far smaller financial loss too!
