Today I received two items in my mail

One was from Ebay saying they tried to bill my account but my credit card wouldn't accept the charge. I knew that was incorrect and this is obviously a SPAM....I did the send the info to Ebay Investigations. Yes, I did double check my account and it is paid up to date, with the next billing not due until March sometime.

I also received an email from an email address of a fellow pin collector. It had an attachment that was to fix a virus. I did not download it , notified my friend, she said she had NOT sent me an email with anything of the sort. She is updating her anti virus currently.

A few weeks ago, I also rec'd an Ebay email saying that I need to update my information and gave me a link......It took me to a page to input all my credit card info!!!!! Sneaky these people are. I notified Ebay of that one as well. They reminded me they will never ASK you for billing info or a password in an email.

Just wanted to give everyone a heads up on this potential problem.

Thanks for the info Lynnie. I have been getting the same e-bay "we need to confirm your acct." for about 2 weeks now. I thought it might be bogus as I use both service at least once a week. I will send them a copy of this. Maybe they can track it down.

Thanks, Lynnie.

There's also one floating around from Paypal similar to that last one you described. I've been getting them on an e-mail account that we don't have affiliated with Paypal.

I got an email from Ebay.... I needed to update my CC as it was not working... I went to my account (Not by the link they sent) and it was true. My experation date on my card had gone by. So I really needed to update. But I too have been getting the pay pal ones at an email that has nothing to do with my account.

I think that is a good rule of thumb Nat. If you get something like this go through the proper channels and not through the link provided. Better safe than sorry.

I also received the spam email about ebay and PayPal info. I called PayPal directly and they said it was a fake.

Every time I receive any email supposedly from ebay, if it looks at all suspicious, I just forward it to ebay via spam@ebay.com

I recommend that everyone do the same.
