So I use Gmail for my personal email and whenever I get an email that has any type of pictures in it, the pictures won't show up. I just get an X. It happens on both my home and work computers. I have tried clicking the show pictures link at the top of the emails and it doesn't change anything.

Is there something in my settings on my computer or email that I need to change. I am working with IE 8 if that could be part of the issue.

get into your tools>internet options>advanced and see if you've got "show image download placeholder" checked- that may help.
Of course, option one is to go to Chrome as a browser.

It didn't help and I just tried using Google Chrome and am having the same issue.

When you are in the Inbox, look at the top right, you will see a little image that looks like a gear or a wheel.

Click that and select "Mail Settings"

On the General tab/section towards the middle is a section:

External content:

Always display external content (such as images) sent by trusted senders - Learn more

Ask before displaying external content

Make sure either you have the always checked off, or if you get the warning asking you, to click yes.

Not sure if this will work, but maybe :)
