Computer Question--Blue Screen Error

My mom has a Dell Desktop that is a little over 2 years old.
Her computer has been having problems for weeks and all of a sudden a little while ago she started getting a blue screen error whenever she booted up...whether she goes into Safe Mode or other modes she always gets it.

Any ideas what it could be and what we can do?
We have absolutely no way of getting to her desktop
we basically can't do anything

The dreaded blue screen.... aka known as the Blue Screen of Death!

I'm not entirely sure of how to resurrect the Blue Screen of Death... but It can be done!

If it's occuring at boot but she can get into safe mode it's most likely a driver. If you can read fast enough the first 2 lines usually have some clues..for example it might say xxxxx.xxx caused a fatal exception in module xxxx
that info is very handy in troubleshooting this....

Oh we can't get past the blue screen...safe mode or anything else

We called Dell and in their tech support message they say that if you have a blue screen error you have a fatal virus so all we can do is wait until 9 tomorrow morning when Symantc Virus Support opens.

That's a completely bogus answer. It COULD be a virus but it could be other stuff as well!!!
THey just don't want to be bothered but that's pretty typical of Dell support now a days...

It seems like that is the typical answer for ALL computer support.

I am having problems with my Sony's fan and all they say on the website is that we can't adjust the fan on my model.

It's weird because the fan is on the bottom of the laptop....
