Computer question: autocomplete

I'm not sure if this is the right forum to post this on, but this is where I hang out the most sooooo, here goes:

Every time I try to clear forms on autocomplete ("tools", "internet options", "content", "autocomplete", "clear forms") everything locks up and doesn't clear. Why?

Two possibilities. Either (1) you have so much data stored that, while you don't realize it, it actually is working, or at least trying to work, but you interrupt the process before it writes the resulting, smaller database to the hard drive; or (2) you've got a corrupted DLL. In the case of (1), how long have you left it run? Overnight? If the problem is (2), I don't have any suggestions for you. My experience is that it is practically impossible to figure out what's wrong and I generally either just live with things as they are, or reinstall the operating system.

Bicker's first reason gets me all the time. It seems the computer is locked up sometimes for me, but then if I let it sit for a long time it'll eventually finish what it was doing. I especially get that when I clear out my cache and files.
