Computer problems

Wow, who would have thought id be asking for computer help lol.

My computer is having problems with pop ups, i have 2 blockers running and i still get them. After a little research i think i may have adware, so i ran a check and deleted it all. Im still getting stuff like " free dating service" "WARNING your computer has illegal adult sites in its regestry" and more. Im so POd at this and i want it to stop! what should i do? When i tell it to close " never use the X, that is one way it launches harmful stuff" using ctrl alt delete, it takes down all windows of the internet, and im just sick of it!
It all started a few days ago i think when i downloaded I tunes, or i could have been when i downloaded the youtube to ipod converter.

If it was the converter, should i delete it?

There is no harm in using the X in the corner of your window to close the popup window

Firstly, get firefox, It will prevent unwanted popups and gives a simple warning which you can right-click to show the popup if you expected it =)

Well, i read on a computer website that some pop ups will give you spyware if you use X, and as for firefox, i use it sometimes but IE to me is better

That is true. On some pop-ups if you click it you will be downloading a trojan.
Did you cheak for spyware? Try downloading Spyware Terminator. It is the best program I've tried so far for preventing spyware and adware.
You may also want to scan your Windows/system32 file to make sure that you don't have a virus or trojon because that is where they would be saved directly.

Also make sure you have your Windows XP firewall up. The virus might have disabled it.

ok, would the windows XP file be in program files? At this point im going to hand scan because Norton found 10 risks but ignored 9, because they were minor.

Also where do i check my firewall

if I can't help u I don't know who can. ok Im gonna have u do a system restore. this will remove all the things u did and should get rid of anything u may have. turn off ure comtuter. turn it back on but hold the f8 key until ure comp starts 2 beeep. then select boot in safemode with the arrow keys and enter. from there log in to ure account. now once u log in it should say somthing about system restore. follow that. now chooce a date that's before the date u started 2 realize all the ads and problems. follow the instructions and let ure computer shut offf. it should take a while but be patient. remember this is gonna erase anything u did after the date u selected soo if u did anything important in the last week or 2 then copy it onto a cd or somthing then put it back on ure computer after u did that.

I think i may have fixed it now, but i will keep the restore idea in moind in case. Thankyou all for your help
