Ok, here's a question for you all. I know somebody who had a myspace account. He had his user name which is his (email) saved on it. The password has to be filled in each time. The only way you can get the password is to either know it or have it sent to your email.

This friend says he pawned the computer. Apparently, someone bought it and has accessed his myspace account and emailed someone on his buddy/friend list. It's caused some issues we'll say.

My question is do you really think someone would go through that much trouble to mess w/ a complete stranger.

Isn't it rather unlikely someone would go through that much trouble to get a password?

unlikely - maybe

but definately possible. I worked with computer geeks for years and there are some who same I'm rather geeky myself. Sometimes we do things just because we can.

Never pawn your hard drive. Those things are nearly impossible to totally erase.

I think it could, would and does happen quite often.

Wouldnt be a bit surprised. People spend hours coming up with ways to send viruses, hack in to other peoples accounts, etc. He really should have cleaned his computer if he was pawning it, especially if he didnt plan on getting it back.

He could log onto his myspace and change the password, nothing on the old hard drive could help someone get in after that.

Only way the new user could get on would be if he had the remember password thing with windows on the old pc, You know where it fills your passwords for you.

well it could easily be done. If all the passwords are saved, a few myspace emails may be the least of his problems. Banking? Online bills.

If your friend changes his myspace passwork the new people will be locked out unless they can retreive his email through settings left on the computer. He should change his passwords for everything.

But yes it can be done easily if he left all that suff on the computer. And tech geek bought the computer I wouldn't put it past them. Heck I'd be tempted to do something just to warn the guy away from doing something like that again.

I'd bet 'they' were combing his computer for idenity theft info.
