computer internet help

I have a laptop that I usually use to access the internet. I also have a desktop the whole family uses (I am on that right now). Starting a couple of days ago, I sometimes have trouble accessing disboards from the laptop? I have not idea why. Sometimes, it will come back on by itself in a few minutes, sometimes I unplug the networking cable and plug it back in and it works. I dont' understand it at all. THis morning, I have not been able to get it to work. I can access my email, and other websites such as yahoo and ebay without any problem. I suspect I have a setting that might be causing my problem, but I am just not computer savy enough to know where to look to correct it. I like surfing from the living room and this is driving me nuts.
Anyone offer any suggestions?

I discovered that my virus protection was working a little TOO well at one point. It would lock me out of sites IT thought was unsafe, but it would only lock me out temporarily. I think it was set for half an hour or so......

That almost sounds like what you're going through.

Good luck figuring it out.

Maybe that's it. Is there any way to change that setting? Drives me nuts.
