computer help!!!!

Could someone please try to help me with a computer problem??

I have installed a new hard drive(already has win XP on it) on another computer, but it will not boot up all the way. It tries to and then it beeps and goes to the screen to start in normal mode, safe mode, or last know good configuration.

Can anyone give me any ideas on what to try??? Any help would be so appreciated!!

Do you have the XP installation CD? You'll want to do a new install, so that the correct drivers for your hardware (network card, monitor, etc) will be found and installed during the installation.

this from my DH...

it sounds like win XP is trying to register the new hardware in the new machine but can't...whatever machine the hard drive WAS on (when win XP was loaded) is making win XP look for the same hardware configuration on the new machine...

so to fix it, you can try last known configuration...it that doesn't work, you'll have to use "safe mode" and register all the hardware again, one at a time (soundcards, USB, video cards, CD burners, etc.)

if that is too complicated...just reformat the hard drive and reload XP in the new machine.
