Computer help please..... I can only get on the Dis!

I can't seem to get anywhere else on the web unless I click on a link. My home page is the Dis and I have no trouble with that... and if I click on a link or on something in my favorites, I go right to it. But if I type a web address into my address line of my menu bar, it doesn't go anywhere. I can't google or yahoo or anything. What's up with this? ..................P
