I downloaded some songs from the internet and have them on a CD-R. It copied funny and will only play in my computer and not my truck CD player or the walkman that I have. I have made other ones before and they work fine.

I need to copy these songs from my CD to the hard drive so I can make a new CD without the flaw in it. I cannot have the CD w/ the songs in the player while I am copying. For some reason I am having a slow day and can't figure out how to copy these to the hard drive so they play on their own.

I hope this makes sense.

Thanks! :)

You need a program to extract the files from the CD if you want to copy them back to your hard drive. I use a little program called
dbpoweramp.
The program will extract and convert files formats. You can also compress files sizes.
http://www.dbpoweramp.com
Or if you go to download.com try a search for "cd ripper"
The cd may have been created with the incorrect file format and that is why it won't work in your cd player or truck.
Did you encode in MP3 or Wav format?

I copy music a lot for my DD's recitals. Even if you do everything right some CD's will not work in some players... I find if I switch blank CD brands it fixes the 'problem'
I have some CD's that will play in my car but not my home system, or will play on the cheap boom box and nothing else...

Anyone know why this is?

on what CD-R software you used to copy the files when you eject the CD from the drive the system will ask you if you want to make the CD readable on all computers. At least this is what ROXIO does. You can get a free version at their website. By replying yes I don't have any problems reading the CD on CD players etc;. Neither does my daughter and lord knows she downloads at lot of music files.

Epcotfan-OK-I downloaded the thing to RIP the CD. I chose to RIP it and it says it is converting it to MP3? And where do they store the RIPed files?

Thanks for your help! :)

Well, I have them in my computer. They have the little Real PLayer symbol by them. I went to make a CD and I keep getting "medium error" when it tries to write it. What does this mean?!?!

Thanks! :)

Sounds like Realplayer has taken over your media files. Or they were converted into real audio format. That is probably why they wouldn't burn.
As for finding the files go to the Audio CD music converter, click options and then look at the "output to" directory you chose. Your files should be listed there.

Is there a way to change it to something other than real player? Should I get rid of the real player on my computer?

Thanks! :)

You need to go into realplayer's preferences and then "media types" Unclick the files realplayer has taken over.
