Does anyone have this condition or know of anyone who does? Did they get counseling for it or what other treatments?

My former coworker was a compulsive overeater.
I just saw her this past weekend at a Fall festival.

Back in 95 she had gastric bypass. She had weighed over 300 pounds. After missing work for several months, she came back to work and we didn't even recognize her. She eventually got down to a size 6 or 8 and looked great.

However, she was a compulsive overeater who was not given any type of counseling about this before her surgery.
She now weighs more than she did before she had surgery.

She says that she's in counseling, plus she in Overeaters Anonymous. She's now trying Low Carb to lose more weight. She says food makes her happy. She would eat things just because she was bored. She said she gained about 60 pounds in one year alone.

She started with the counseling plus the low carb way of eating and has lost about 20 pounds, but she still has a long way to go. She's really upset with herself with gaining back all the weight from after the surgery, but she's not giving up this time. :)

I'm about to write a paper on this for overeating in children...I'll try to remember to send you some info after I've gotten some of the research if you'd like... can't remember much about it right now, just that we know for sure that little Heyward (this is a fake case) has no biological reasons for his obesity and something about his overeating....I always feel sorry for these fake kids, their stories are usually to the extreme....

In My opinion, this is the #1 reason why people tend to overeat or be over weight. They use food as comfort! Which I am sure we all have done at one point in our lives! We use Fried Foods, Cookies, Cakes, and other junk as comfort foods, but are they really comforting!!!! After months of training, I put in my head that those foods do not make me feel better, no, but losing weight and looking good does. It was VERY tough to do, but I am confident that ANYONE can do it!

The hardest part is to change this mentality, but once you do that, and you are eating the correct foods and exercising, the weight will fly off!

Good Luck and Best Wishes!
